Extra Ninja Behind-the-Scenes Goodness from Scott Adkins’ Ninja

10 September 2009 7:47 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Some new images and a new, 6-minute behind-the-scenes look at the making of Scott Adkins’ “Ninja”, featuring cast interviews and additional footage not seen before. Plus, the girls express their appreciation of Scott Adkins’ hunkiness, while there are some new ninja action for the boys. Mind you, I’m not saying some of you boys can’t also appreciate Scott Adkins’ hunkiness. Ahem. Directed by Isaac Florentine, the film stars Scott Adkins as our ninja hero, Tsuyoshi Ihara as our ninja villain, Mika Hijii as our spry Japanese love interest, Todd Jensen as our befuddled New York cop. They are joined by Togo Igawa, Garrick Hagon, Miles Anderson, Valentin Ganev , Kenji Motomiya, and Nikolai Sotirov. Via Scott Adkins Fanz and the “Ninja” YouTube channel. This is apparently the first of 3 behind-the-scenes featurette. We’ll add them here as they’re added to the channel. Behind-the-Scenes: Part 1 »

Ninja? Are You Kidding me? No I’m Not, Sir. Ninjas!

8 September 2009 9:32 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Color me excited. Never in such a period of human history have we been witness to so many movies about ninjas. Okay, there was the ’70s. And the ’80s. And I think they dabbled in quite the bit of ninja-rific action in the ’90s, too. This decade, I mean. Ahem. Here’s the latest TV spot for James McTeigue’s “Ninja Assassin”, a film that, despite the movie’s cartoony premise, looks like it has the potential to be the most brutal action flick in a while. Fans of ninja brutality might also want to check out 1995’s “The Hunted”. The train scene alone is worth the price of admission. “Ninja Assassin” stars Rain, Naomie Harris, Randall Duk Kim, Sung Kang, Rick Yune, Ben Miles, Shô Kosugi, and Togo Igawa. Directed by James McTeigue. The ninjas are coming November 25, 2009. »

Our ongoing follow-up to Isaac Florentine’s upcoming martial arts film Ninja continues with five promotional behind-the-scenes videos, courtesy of the official Ninja Youtube channel.  Not only does the videos contains plenty of actual footage but also interviews with the casts & director talking about some interesting facts on the art of Ninjutsu and how Japanese culture influenced the making of the film.  The “Fists of Fury” video in particular with action maestro Scott Adkins taking on multiple assailant in a cult temple looks like all kinds of awesomeness.

27 August 2009 1:44 PM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Five incredibly cool behind-the-scenes clips from Isaac Florentine and Scott Adkins’ upcoming martial arts actioner “Ninja”. There are plenty of new footage in the clips, but there are also some nifty lessons about the history of the ninja. Is any of it true? Um, probably not, but not like you care. It’s got ninjas, girls, Scott Adkins, and kick-ass action. Any questions? A westerner named Casey, studying Ninjutsu in Japan, is asked by the Sensei to return to New York to protect the legendary Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest that contains the weapons of the last Koga Ninja. Starring Scott Adkins, Tsuyoshi Ihara, Mika Hijii, Todd Jensen, Togo Igawa, Garrick Hagon, Miles Anderson, Valentin Ganev, Kenji Motomiya, Nikolai Sotirov, and directed by Isaac Florentine. DVD Cover and Release Date for Scott Adkins’ Ninja

14 August 2009 8:11 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Scott Adkins’ “Ninja” may never see the inside of an American movie theater, but that’s not the case in Malaysia, where the film is scheduled for a theatrical run starting in October 22, 2009. Also, the film is already up for pre-order in the UK via the online etailer Play.com, with a November 23, 2009 release date, and you can check out the DVD cover for it to your left. A westerner named Casey, studying Ninjutsu in Japan, is asked by the Sensei to return to New York to protect the legendary Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest that contains the weapons of the last Koga Ninja. Of course, if you buy the DVD from Play.com, it’ll come in Region 2, so you’ll need a multi-region DVD player to actually watch the movie. Consider yourself warned. Thanks again to the boys at Scott Adkins Fanz for the heads up. In case you missed it, »

A Clip from Scott Adkins’ Ninja: Subway Fight

15 July 2009 6:35 PM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

You know, it’s probably a damn shame that Scott Adkins’ “Ninja” won’t make it into theaters. It’s probably got better action choreography than 90% of the stuff Hollywood puts out there at the moment, if this kick-ass clip from Isaac Florentine’s movie is any indication. Sure, the plot isn’t going to win any awards, and I’m not gonna crow about the acting, either. But let’s face it, it’s a movie called “Ninja”. Whaddaya want, “Gone with the Wind”? It’s about the action. Ninja action, baby! Check out this subway fight clip from the movie. A westerner named Casey, studying Ninjutsu in Japan, is asked by the Sensei to return to New York to protect the legendary Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest that contains the weapons of the last Koga Ninja. Subway Fight Clip for Isaac Florentine’s Ninja

15 July 2009 3:53 PM, PDT | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

My thanks goes to the good folks at Scott Adkins fanz once again for bring us up to speed on the latest for Isaac Florentine’s Ninja.  In this clip, Scott Adkins and his lady friend engage in a standoff with their pursuers inside the subway train.  There is also an indepth interview with Adkins at Hong Kong Cinemagic where he discuss his experience working in Hong Kong and his latest projects.  Here’s an excerpt on what to expect for this martial arts film:

Scott Adkins:  I think the best way to describe it is as a martial arts comic book movie. It’s a throwback to the 80’s Ninja genre and it is absolutely action packed. I know that a lot of people will compare it to American Ninja because there is a white guy in the lead role but to be honest the real Ninja in »

First Shots Of Marko Zaror And Scott Adkins In Action On Undisputed 3!

13 June 2009 8:16 AM, PDT | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

What’s better than getting word that Marko Zaror (Mirage Man, Kiltro, Mandrill) would be facing off with Scott Adkins (Ninja, The Tournament, Undisputed 2) in Undisputed 3?  The two are, after all, arguably two of the greatest screen fighters still waiting for their big break into the mainstream, both of them very large, very fast, very strong and extremely talented.  How about word that Zaror and Adkins haven’t been holding anything back on set, apparently staging their fights with real contact - including head shots.  After all, the easiest way to make something look authentic is to have it actually be authentic.

And we’ve got more than just the word of someone on set about this, we’ve actually got the first shots to leak out of the set featuring both men looking a little beat up and Zaror shedding his regular clean cut, nice guy look to sell his villainous character. »

Shorter Trailer for Isaac Florentine’s Ninja

22 May 2009 8:15 PM, PDT | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

A slightly different trailer than the previous one for Isaac Florentine’s Ninja has turned up via Scott Adkins Fanz.  The difference is its shorter with tighter edits, there is no voice over narration, a different music and a few new quick shots.  Most of the focus is place on the action while setting up the premise takes the backseat.  I still think the first trailer is better in comparison just because of the voice over.

A westerner named Casey, studying Ninjutsu in Japan, is asked by the Sensei to return to New York to protect the legendary Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest that contains the weapons of the last Koga Ninja.

Second trailer for Scott Adkins’ martial arts movie “Ninja” via the boys over at Scott Adkins Fanz. It’s a lot shorter than the first trailer, but that’s probably because they dispensed with the exposition in favor of balls-to-the-wall action scenes. A Clip for Isaac Florentine’s Ninja

12 May 2009 6:41 PM, PDT | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

Only a week ago, we received word on the trailer for Isaac Florentine’s Ninja and today, the good folks at Scott Adkins fanz gave us the heads up on a clip.  The clip features Scott Adkins confronting a Ninja on a rooftop and then a fight ensure.  It seems the ninjas depicted in this film has gone the hi-tech route with the sleek black suit similar to the design in Christopher Nolan’s incarnation of Batman.

A westerner named Casey, studying Ninjutsu in Japan, is asked by the Sensei to return to New York to protect the legendary Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest that contains the weapons of the last Koga Ninja.

Ninja Clip: Rooftop Fight Scene

12 May 2009 1:49 PM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

You may not know who Scott Adkins is, but if you saw “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” you already saw him in action — he was Weapon XI, the character that used to be Deadpool (played by Ryan Reynolds), who took on Wolverine at the end of the movie. Adkins is the star of Isaac Florentine’s actioner “Ninja”, which will probably not make it into theaters, but should make for one hell of a rental if you’re an action fan. A clip from the movie has surfaced online, featuring Atkins fighting a ninja on the rooftop of a building. A westerner named Casey, studying Ninjutsu in Japan, is asked by the Sensei to return to New York to protect the legendary Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest that contains the weapons of the last Koga Ninja. Must Watch: Badass Trailer for Isaac Florentine's Ninja

10 May 2009 8:05 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

While we're waiting for Warner Brothers to release the first trailer for James McTeigue's Ninja Assassin, our friends on the web have dug up one of the most badass trailers for another ninja movie that we didn't know even know existed. This one is simply called just Ninja and the trailer for it kicks some serious ass. This stars Scott Adkins, a stunt actor who physically played Weapon XI in the recent X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Sure, it may not be as polished as a Hollywood movie, but it still looks pretty damn fun, to say the least, and I can't wait to see it. The trailer takes a little while to get going, but by the end it kicks ass! Ninja Trailer

6 May 2009 9:13 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Ninja looks like a throwback to the low-budget, martial arts movies of the late 80s and early 90s. It could easily be one of the movies Beverly Hills Ninja was spoofing. That's not a knock on it, we could do with a little more of that style of filmmaking. Where's the modern day Roger Cormans? Why not a return to the days of American Ninja? Not everything has to be Hollywood glossy. Not every movie needs excessive lens flairs. It stars a frequently shirtless Scott Adkins, as Casey, a westerner studying Ninjutsu in Japan. He's sent by his Sensei to New York, where he'll protect legendary weapons from a host of bad guys. See? It's Beverly Hills Ninja. The movie's first trailer has arrived, and it's flat out, pretty cool. Especially if you have a hankering for late 80s martial arts flicks. Take a look: »

Scott Adkins gives Ninja Assassin a run for its money!  Trailer for Isaac Florentine’s Ninja!

6 May 2009 7:26 PM, PDT | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

Holy crap!  Our good friend Mark Pollard over at Kung Fu Cinema just brought my attention to the trailer for Isaac Florentine’s Ninja starring the action maestro Scott Adkins and it had me screaming wildly like a school girl at a Jonas Brother concert or a Twilight event.  In my previous posts on this film, I been singing the praise of Scott as the future leading Martial Arts star but talk is cheap, action speaks louder than words.  Don’t take my word, just watch the trailer and judge for yourself.  It easily blew away my already high expectation.  If your reading this Isaac or Scott, I salute you sir.  Eat your heart out, Rain.

Isaac Florentine’s Ninja Trailer: The Most Badass Thing You’ll See All Day

6 May 2009 11:39 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Sit right down folks and prepare yourself for some badass ninja action -- the likes of which you haven't seen in a long while. That is, unless you went and saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine last weekend. For those who did see Wolverine, you may have been impressed with some of the awesome stuntery of Scott Adkins, the martial artist turned actor who played the 'roided up version of Deadpool (also known as Weapon XI) toward the end of the film. Don't worry, this isn't a spoiler -- there are shots of his epic fight scene with Wolverine and Sabretooth in the trailer. Either way, its a badass scene with some awesome fighting from Mr. Adkins. As it turns out, Adkins is not only playing hybrid mutants these days, he's also suiting up ninja style for director Isaac Florentine (Undisputed II: Last Man Standing) in the aptly named action film Ninja -- not to be confused with the »
