When 'Phineas and Ferb' first started to air, Disney Channel was nowhere near as good as it used to be and still isn't. Instead of the likes of the animated Disney shows of the 80s and 90s, most of it was and still is animated shows with childish humour and Disney Channel sitcoms and unfortunately it tended to not be the good ones. This continued throughout the whole of 'Phineas and Ferb's' run to the extent that this became one of the few shows airing on the Channel worth watching.

Have always liked "Ready for the Betty's" and "The Flying Fishmonger" very much, though neither are among my favourite 'Phineas and Ferb' episodes. Of the two, the more interesting one and the superior one, despite not being perfect, is "Ready for the Betty's". Which was quite refreshing in a few ways and there are at least three things done differently to the usual 'Phineas and Ferb' episode. "The Flying Fishmonger" is funny and heart-warming, if not quite having the interest points of "Ready for the Betty's".

"Ready for the Betty's" is not a perfect episode, with Candace being a little too irritating at the beginning and the ending being too easily telegraphed too early.

"The Flying Fishmonger" is very pleasant and well done with a lot to like, even if there is nothing extraordinary in plot or much innovative.

A few interest points can be seen with "Ready for the Betty's". It was interesting to see Candace as the straight talker and to see a rare episode that didn't strictly speaking have a Perry and Doofenschmirtz subplot. What fascinated me more was seeing Phineas and Ferb more fleshed out as individual characters and to see them not on the same side this time. All of this is executed really well, and that Ferb especially is more fleshed out here gives Thomas Brodie-Sangster a chance to shine more (which he does, beautifully). Really related to what the episode had to say about admiring somebody and finding out later that they are very different in real life in not a good way (have been there), am actually somebody that has always tried to judge the artist differently from them as a person. Can understand that it is hard for many, but there are many that are immensely talented at what they do but are not pleasant people (as seen with Candace and Stacy's idols here), just like there are also immensely talented people that are nowhere near as bad as made out due to manipulative media image.

While "The Flying Fishmonger" does have a Perry and Doofenschmirtz subplot, and it is an entertaining one with some wickedly funny lines from Doofenschmirtz. Though it is not one of the show's wackiest or most inventive, did enjoy the scheme actually but the motive was on the extreme side.

Both execute individual elements quite brilliantly. The animation is bright and colourful with lovely background detail, while the music is dynamic and has character. The theme song is very quotable in lyrics and immensely catchy. The titles sequence has always struck me as genius and will strike a chord for anybody that wants to do something different and inventive on holiday. The writing is funny and smart as one expects and both episodes have a good deal of energy. The characterisation is on point, with the relationship between Phineas and Ferb in "Ready for the Betty's" and Ferb being more fleshed out being most striking. The voice acting is very good.

All in all, very well done. 8/10

"Ready for the Bettys"

This episode isn't as funny as the others, but it makes up fof it with the action. It's so nice to see Phineas, Ferb and Perry together in action without any interaction. Also, near the end, we see Phineas talk to his mom. I love this scene. It shows how innocent and pure the kids are.

"The Flying Fishmonger."

The episode itself is funny and fun but it doesn't really contribute to the events of the series. They could've used that song in the special episode 'Night of the Living Pharmacists' but they didn't.
