What if the kids like the nanny better...
17 July 2008 | by (Greensboro, NC) – See all my reviews

Jon and Ktae decide it's time to hire a nanny. They say the kids would like somebody playing with them, taking them outside - that an extra pair of eyes and hands are definitely needed right now. No doubt that's true with such a large family when the mom is OCD about cleanliness, germs, and organization. It's a shame they can't learn to balance their responsibilities like many large families do without having to resort to a nanny.

Cara has a very rare meltdown over orange juice and has to go to timeout- Jon and Kate can't remember the last time she ever had timeout! Jon's take on the nanny is someone to "play with the kids while Kate gets stuff done." Kate says it's not like she will be off gallivanting - "I don't get to leave." Jon says they are not looking for an "employee but someone that will love the kids and get to know their different personalities. And someone who gets along with Kate...". Kate then interrupts and asks him to clarify. He says he means you don't want conflicting personalities. Then Kate corrects him and says "I THINK you mean someone who sees what's important to me and follows through with it." No Kate, I think he means someone that can get along with you like he said with his own mouth the first time.

Then Jon says since he sees the kids the least, he likes to be able to spend time with them without having a chore list all the time. Kate says "so you think I just get to spend time with them all day? Are you always patient with them?". Then Jon says she is just going to "try to pit everything against him because everyone thinks I'm like this..." Kate promptly interrupts him and says to the interviewer off camera, "uh, let's just move on to the next thing!"

Kate leaves to go interview candidates from "Nanny for hire". Jon is left with the kids who he says are behaving horribly today.

Kate says she is looking for a nanny that is hopefully "not a fan of the show" because then she would question what their true motives are. It needs to be someone very energetic and able to be firm in the midst of chaos. She decides to try a young woman named Ashley for a few hours with the kids. But they couldn't work out a schedule that worked. So she decides to hire Sara who is a child psychology major. She has kept 6 kids before and thinks she will be able to handle the job well. Kate has a gut feeling she is the right girl for the job! I just hope the kids don't end up liking the nanny more...
