One of the most unique episodes of Avatar!
Shmaden17 November 2018
During the first two seasons I didn't much more than a somewhat cliched story with cliched characters. But towards and into the third season things started to develop a lot. First was the turning of Zuko and then that was quickly followed by the training of Sokka and we've got two developed characters and most important more badass. This episode on the other hand shows why season 3 is such a better season than all of the other ones before, as we constantly get new situations and original plots that make for an exciting ride. This episode reminded me a little of Prison Break and how in a situation like this one must sacrifice something in order to get other things done. I will try not to spoil it to much but the interactions between Sokka and Zuko are great, the story is very catchy and keeps you involved till the last moment, and apart from that there are some old characters that come back in the story making for a very interesting and unique episode of Avatar. This last half of the season was amazing with fantastic episodes that made the previous two seasons look like children cartoons (although that's what they are, but you get the point...) and this episode is a strong evidence towards that.

Great Episode!

I'm gonna review both parts as one

This was a fantastic episode! The plot was interesting, and there were great character moments like the turn of Mei, and the turn of Tai Li. That's all I can really say about it, but it's just so well-rounded that that's not a bad thing.

The only pitfalls is not having more in-depth character moments, and Sokka and Zuko risking the important of their army's sacrifice

9/10, great episode.

The Great Escape, Avatar style
matitya-3393718 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is a delightful homage to the movie The Great Escape. The inescapable prison, the blind spot between two watch towers, a freezer being used as a means of punitive torture, the staged fight being used to make a would be escapee become the "Cooler King" as part of the plan of escape. Even the failure of the first attempt. Honestly, "Avatar does the Great Escape" is something that I never knew I needed and now that I have it, I love it. (And Zuko as the Cooler King was the perfect choice.)

Beyond that, I like how Zuko now calls Appa by his name, I like Zuko apologizing to Suki, I like new character Chan-Sing, I like Sokka and Suki reuniting, I like Zuko and Sokka's strange friendship and I like this episode's humour ("leaf me alone, I'm bushed.)

This episode is amazing.

Let me just put my hand into this boiling lake

Warning: Spoilers
Putting his hand in the boiling water is one of the most stupidly convenient plot points I've ever seen in this show.

It's a nice enough episode but I miss the rest of the gang.
