- A look at how infants learn and discover during their first year of life.
- This Netflix documentary series opens with the statement that "babies already know more and will learn more than we ever thought possible". 15 babies from around the world were filmed in their first year and their actions, reactions to parents, their movements and feelings are analyzed by 36 world renowned scientists. Each segment shows a specific area of the babies' development. Segment #1 is titled 'Love' and delves into the biology of bonding with both the mother and the committed caregiver, whether it is the father or someone else. The segment also shows how social interaction is inborn rather than only developed after birth. Segment #2 is titled 'First Food' and examines what babies eat, not only nutrient rich food but microbes and their combined effects protecting the growing baby. Segment #3 is titled 'Crawling' and explains why crawling is much more than just a transition to walking. Segment #4 is titled 'First Words' and explains how babies learn to speak by analyzing linguistics, examining the rhythm, flow and beats in language. Segment #5 is titled 'Sleep' and explains what twitching during sleep really means. Segment #6 is titled 'First Steps' and shows how walking opens up and thus changes the baby's world. The combined effect of these segments proves the truth of the opening statement. The documentary series travels the world (from England to America to Israel to Singapore), following not only the babies but parents in order to cover scientific discoveries occurring during the first year of life for all babies.
