The Children (2008) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

A couple talk about 'having fun' over the weekend and start kissing and groping, presumably leading to sex.

A woman changes to go to bed. She is shown in her panties.

Some cleavage show.

Casey wears a very short mini skirt for the greater half of the film. A few upskirt scenes, where we see her underwear.

Violence & Gore

Lots of gore and blood; lots of close-ups of wounds.

Many instances of vomiting

A Woman is stabbed in the eye with a pencil.

A woman gets pulled off a ladder to a climbing frame and gets their leg caught, making it snap violently.

A Child's head is shoved onto a wooden spike, projecting lots of blood.

A Man's head is cut open horribly and we see lots of blood coming from it.

A Woman discovers a man with a baby doll sticking out his stomach. We see lots of blood and intestines.

A Child gets pushed onto a sticking up shard of glass and impaled.

A Child gets rammed with a car against another car. The body slides slowly off, leaving a trail of blood on the window.

Two children attempt to cut open a woman with a blade and stuff a wooden like doll into the gaping wound but their plan is thwarted.

A man is cut on the arm/hand with a knife by a child who runs away laughing

Several people are hit in the head, not bloody though.

We see lots of children carrying around sharp tools and turning violent.

Profanity

Several uses of f*ck

A man is smoking outside in a greenhouse and another woman comes along and joins him.

People drink alcohol.... it's Christmas!

Although the film is very bloody, the film relies on suspense mostly. Lots of tense scenes with unbearable build ups to gory moments.

The movie deals with people getting sick and physically "being sick". People who are afraid or can't handle that maybe frightened/grossed out by it.

Some chase scenes; lots of screaming and people in distress. Children suddenly turning psycho and killing their parents...

A few of the psycho children are killed, some by their own parents, which may be upsetting to both children and adults
