Shawn introduces Gus as "Lavender Gooms." This is actually the name of Dule Hill's great-aunt.
The exterior of the studio lot where the Soap Opera films is North Shore Studios in North Vancouver. It's the same studio where Psych has its sets - Police station, Psych office, Henry's house. When Shawn and Gus are talking to Quintessa, the green building behind them houses the Police station set, and the yellow/blue building has Henry's house and the Psych office.
Shawn mentions that he based his soap opera character, Chad, on "the El Pollo Loco guy." Matt Cedeño, who plays Jorge, has been the spokesman for El Pollo Loco since 2004.
For this episode, the show's theme song, "I Know, You Know", was performed in Spanish. It was also slightly remixed to give it more of a Mariachi-style flair.
Kelly the craft service person character on the episode is named after the series' actual craft service person, Kelly Fry.
Shawn speaks to an AD named Roger and calls for Ivan when he gets food on his wardrobe. These are the names of Psych's 2nd AD Roger Russell and Costume Set Supervisor Ivan Lehner.
