3 hours ago | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Marvel Studios has released a new featurette for Guardians of the Galaxy (which we’ll be reviewing soon) that focusses on the adopted siblings Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), and also features a brief, blink-and-you’ll-miss it glimpse of the Man Titan himself sitting on his Throne. Take a look below…

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team — the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. Ant-Man concept art revealed in new Comic-Con poster

6 hours ago | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Marvel’s Ant-Man could use all the good press it can get, and what better place to get it than at San Diego Comic-Con? Geeks everywhere are still feeling the pain of Edgar Wright’s departure from the film, but things appear to be moving as scheduled and the studio will likely have something to show fans when they take the stage in Hall H later this week.

The only thing we’ve seen from the film is a VFX demo reel Edgar Wright brought to Sdcc a couple years ago, so it’s about time that we get something new. Courtesty of Entertainment Weekly, we have some cool Ant-Man concept art in the form of a Comic-Con poster, which features a great look at Ant-Man’s look, as well as shots of the Ant-Men themselves, Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas. There’s also a great image of Ant-Man riding an actual ant, »

First Poster For The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies

13 hours ago | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

Peter Jackson has shared the first poster for The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies ahead of the big event Warner Brothers has planned for San Diego Comic-Con. And it is a ripper! The poster is clearly intended to remind us where The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug left off, rather than hype us up for the titular battle, which *Spoiler Alert* is a glorious clusterfuck crescendo of dwarves and men and elves and orcs and wargs and bats and giant eagles and motherfucking bezerker bear-mode Beorn. All in good time, and good times ahead. ...

Smaug is Ready to Strike in First Poster for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

22 hours ago | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Warner Bros. have released the first poster for Peter Jackson’s third and final instalment in The Hobbit franchise, The Battle of the Five Armies, a movie that they’re calling “The Defining Chapter”.

In the poster, we see Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch) preparing to destroy Laketown, the location he set off for at the end of the last movie, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. With Bilbo Baggins and the dwarves still on the Lonely Mountain, only one person stands in the dragon’s way; Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans).

The first trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will likely premiere at this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, and should be online shortly after, so stay tuned to HeyUGuys for that.

The movie is set to be released on December 12th. Click on the poster below for the full-size version.

Take a look, then read on for what writer/producer Philippa Boyens has to say about director Peter Jackson's final Middle Earth adventure.

Back in April, Warner Bros. announced that this final adventure was changing from The Hobbit: There and Back Again to The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies, which hints that this last Middle Earth tale will be more action-packed that its predecessors. Philippa Boyens revealed that fans don't remember what happens at the end of J.R.R. Tolkien's novel, which is much more intense than some may believe. »

Evangeline Lilly Denies Ant-man Rumors; Shares Thoughts On Edgar Wright's Departure

21 July 2014 9:01 AM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Talking to SlashFilm recently, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and Lost star Evangeline Lilly was asked whether she could comment on the constant reports that she'll be playing The Wasp in Edgar Wright's Peyton Reed's Ant-Man. Her response wasn't what many of us wanted to hear though! "No, I can’t," she bluntly replied. "I don’t know anything about those rumors." The trades recently confirmed that Lilly Is in the movie, so perhaps this denial has something to do with the fact that the Ant-Man cast will all be brought on stage at Comic-Con this weekend. That's a theory the site put to her, and when the Real Steel actress was asked whether she has more planned than just panels for The Hobbit and The Squickerwonkers, she said: "I’m an actress, but I’m not stupid. I can’t answer that question." However, for someone in the movie, »

Benedict Cumberbatch Cracks Codes in Two 'Imitation Game' Trailers

The stellar Benedict Cumberbatch has had some fun lately with Star Trek Into Darkness and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (and more action in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies this winter), but this fall we'll see him in a lower profile drama called The Imitation Game. In the film from Norwegian filmmaker Morten Tyldum (Headhunters), Cumberbatch plays real-life mathematician and cryptologist who was responsible for cracking a code that helped win World War II. But he wasn't treated like a hero when he was prosecuted for being a homosexual at a time when it was made illegal in the United Kingdom. Now two trailers have arrived, showing Cumberbatch has some Oscar potential for sure. Watch! Here's the first trailer for Morten Tyldrum's The Imitation Game from The Weinstein Company: And here's a completely different trailer from across the pond from Studio Canal UK: The Imitation Game »

The Ring 3 finally lands a director

20 July 2014 10:16 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The threequel to Paramount’s remake of the classic Japanese horror Ringu has landed a director and it’s none other than F. Javier Gutiérrez (Before the Fall). The third movie has been in the pipe line for a while now but the Spanish director is the first name linked with the task of breathing new life into the series.

The first movie – directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean) – grossed over $249 million worldwide  in 2002 and starred Naomi Watts in the lead role. Despite not matching it’s predecessor’s success the 2005 sequel – which saw original Ringu director Hideo Nakata take the hot seat – still managed to bag just over $160 million at the box office.

Gutiérrez gained genre cred in his native Spain after delivering two outstanding shorts called Brasil and Norman’s Room (a bite size tribute to Psycho), both of which were nominated for various international awards. »

Competing J.R.R. Tolkien Biopics In the Works

20 July 2014 9:38 AM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

We're nearing the end of The Hobbit trilogy as The Battle of the Five Armies is slated to arrive in December 2014. The film will culminate director Peter Jackson's 13-year-long, six-film voyage into J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth, and judging by the billions of dollars both Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit have generated worldwide at the box office, there is no end to the thirst among moviegoers for all things Tolkien. With that in mind, to help fill that Gollum void, two different movie studios are planning competing J.R.R. Tolkien biopics. »

Titan Books Announce Evangeline Lilly’s ‘The Squickerwonkers’

19 July 2014 2:00 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Not content with making an impact forever with her role as Kate in Lost, or revitalising her career with an excellent, stand-out performance as Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, the versatile Evangeline Lilly has now announced her debut kids book The Squickerwonkers – What an unforgettable title!

Alongside impressive illustrations from Weta’s Johnny Fraser-Allen, Lilly brings to life the ill-mannered and unruly Selma of the Rin-Run Royals as she wanders into a carnival ride and meets a clan of travelling marionette puppets; each of which is singular in their strange and sorry qualities.

These are the uproarious Squickerwonkers and they’re going to get up to all sorts of mischief in this first of the series – so get ready for some fun!

For fans of Dr Seuss, Guillermo Del Toro and the world of Tolkien, this poetic, eccentric, visually tantalising cautionary tale (aimed at 5-8 year olds) will appeal to all ages. »
