Going into its eight series the creative team of 'My Family' obviously were looking to do new things. And that lead to this so-so Christmas special that tried to go for the sort of all out farce that other sitcoms like 'Frasier' did so well.
And there are nice moments - Ben having a massage, the final pile up of Santa's, but farce is such a subjective thing and for me it doesn't feel like 'My Family', which in the beginning was rooted in verbal humour rather than the visual.
I enjoyed the cameo from 'Only Fools' legend, John Challis but for me there was little to get excited about in this episode of the successful British sitcom.
