Plot Summary

Despite a severely limited budget and lack of government funding, The King's Head Theatre of London, founded by Dan Crawford, has been responsible for launching many famous names within the British entertainment industry. Over sixty contributors talk about their experiences at the King's Head Theatre. The documentary also follows Crawford as he casts, rehearses and mounts a production of Michael Wall's 'Women Laughing' just months before his untimely death. Written by webmaster@michael-praed.com

Trivia Created as a paean to the King's Head Theatre founder, this title is used as a fund raiser for the perennially financially strapped theatre. Although the title of the documentary is 'The King's Head: A Maverick in London', the title was changed to 'A Maverick in London: The Story of the King's Head Theatre' on the cover of the DVD. This causes some confusion. It is usually sold under the name 'A Maverick in London: The Story of the King's Head Theatre', but otherwise called 'The King's Head: A Maverick in London'. See more »
