A look at the history of traditional TV comedy on the Christmas schedules.
I can't remember if this was on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but either way it was appropriate to be on. Basically it was a documentary about some of the most favourite and unmissable comedy programmes (sitcoms, variety shows and sketch shows) on over Christmas. The were contributions from John Sullivan, John Thomson, James King, David Schneider, Mark Dolan, Stanley Baxter, Russ Abbot, Stephen Merchant, Ricky Gervais, Ashley Jensen and Ricky Tomlinson. Programmes mentioned and shown that were all on at the season to be jolly included: The Vicar of Dibley, Only Fools and Horses, Morecambe and Wise, The Royle Family, Father Ted, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, One Foot in the Grave, Knowing Me Knowing Youe (or Yule) with Alan Partridge, The Fast Show, The Office and finally Extras. Very good!
