Will everyone be able to run, run, run as fast as they can?
20 May 2010 | by (Edinburgh.) – See all my reviews

I don't care how others view this movie, you've gotta give it a few points just for the title alone. Surely.

Our killer gingerbread man returns and this time starts slashing his way through the unfortunate folk who inhabit the low-budget halls of Cheatum Studio, a place dedicated to providing dubious entertainment of various quality to undemanding fans (rather like, ahem, Full Moon Entertainment, I guess).

Despite being already predisposed to liking this movie purely based on it's title, I must admit that it surprised me by being a lot better than the dire first outing (although that's damning it with faint praise there). Gary Busey may have seen sense and left the vocal duties to someone else but one biscuity psycho is indistinguishable from any other.

The acting may not be much better this time around but at least we get a few faces such as Michelle Bauer and even Gregory Nicotero (in a very minor role) to please fans of horror, be it high quality or low-grade stuff.

With more victims to be terrorised and a little bit more effort put into some of the effects, this easily does a hell of a lot better than the first movie and actually entertains in places, despite the constant silliness. It's never going to win round fans of genuine, quality cinema but it doesn't do too badly for what it is; ridiculous hokum with it's tongue in cheek.

Oh, and I really liked the song over the opening credits (and the great, cheesy, lurid film posters) even if it did sound almost exactly like "Bad Reputation".
