Quotes

Captain Jack Harkness: Before we get ahead of ourselves, we're talking about dodgy pies in Merthyr, okay? And the fact that they're cutting it up alive - which we could've put a stop to already if it wasn't for you.
Rhys Williams: I thought that my fiancée was in danger!
Captain Jack Harkness: Well, Mr. Caveman, she wasn't. She can handle herself.
Gwen Cooper: [warningly] Jack.

A "Torchwood" episode with real meat to it
8 February 2008 | by (England) – See all my reviews

"Meat" is a surprisingly effective and moving example of British sci-fi drama. There's something genuinely comic yet chilling when an other-worldly tale is set in the rather grim, un-exotic setting of Merthyr Tydfil.

The Torchwood team investigate strange goings on following a road traffic accident involving a vehicle full of raw meat. What is of interest is that the meat isn't from this planet...

A well paced and interesting episode, the finale is especially effective and one of "Torchwood"'s most memorable to date. The special effects are ambitious but pleasing and the script and direction manage to create real emotion in the viewer. In less capable hands, this could have been a clunker.

9 out of 10. More of the same please!
