Universal Moves 'Wolfman' to November

10 December 2008 2:53 PM, PST | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

With The Wolfman needing extra time for its special effects, Universal has adjusted its 2009 genre schedule, moving the Joe Johnston-directed film from April to November 6. How this may effect Johnston’s role in prepping Marvel’s First Avenger: Captain America, which should be in re-production by that time remains uncertain.

Taking the April 3 slot will be Vin Diesel’s return in the fourth Fast and Furious film.

The Wolfman gains the slot Universal had reserved for Ridley Scott’s revisionist Robin Hood film, Nottingham, which will got to 2010.  The Russell Crowe feature may depict Hood as both the deposed noble and the wicked Sheriff who hunts the archer. Production will begin this spring.

Screen Gems also delayed it thriller Obsessed from February 27 to April 24 and Woody Harrelson’s Zombieland will be unearthed on October 9.

Sony Takes Harrelson to Zombieland Next October

9 December 2008 4:01 PM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

There are two things that sound like a match made in cinema heaven to me: Woody Harrelson and zombies. Now that may be an odd statement of sorts but as a fan of Natural Born Killers you know just how intense Harrelson can be. Yeah, I know, Zombieland is a horror-comedy, but a guy can wish no?

Sony Pictures has given the film a release date of October 9, 2009 and I couldn't be happier. We need zombie films damn it! Ruben Fleischer's movie stars Woody and Jesse Eisenberg as an unlikely duo leading a band of survivors through a zombie apocalypse.

Yep. I'm there. Keep it right here for more on Zombieland as we get it!

Studios Ramp Up Production Prior To SAG Strike

8 October 2008 8:30 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

As it stands, Hollywood studios are deadlocked in their contract negotiations with the Screen Actors Guild. That news stirs up foul memories of a year ago, when the Writers Guild of America was at a similar juncture with the studios… Soon after that there were no TV shows for about half a year.

And we all know what that did last year’s TV season.

In anticipation of the worst (which has ironically become the norm in these days and times), studios are turning to the pre-strike protocols they devised after the 2007 WGA strike, pushing as many films as they can into production so that the 2010-2011 movie roster doesn’t end up barren.

Check out the studio by studio list of the films that are either currently in production, or are headed into production in light of the looming strike.

The list of movies being fast-tracked are as follows: »

Jesse Eisenberg Joins Woody Harrelson in 'Zombieland'

7 October 2008 12:32 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

When it comes to 'Zombie comedy', (if that is even such a thing), you have to admit that it is going to pretty difficult to top Shaun of The Dead -- but you can't blame someone for trying. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Jesse Eisenberg (The Squid and the Whale) has signed to star opposite Woody Harrelson in the horror-comedy, Zombieland. According to THR, "Eisenberg is in negotiations to play Flagstaff, a terrified shut-in whose cowardice makes him an expert at surviving the zombies but who is forced out of his shell to join the band of survivors, which includes Harrelson."

Zombieland was written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and is about a "mismatched pair of survivors who find friendship and redemption in a world overrun by zombies." So I guess that makes Zombieland a comedy, a horror, and a 'feel-good' buddy flick? Ruben Fleischer has already signed to direct, »
