Sophie returns with her mother
jotix10029 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Sophie is a deeply disturbed girl. To add to the accident trauma she suffered, she shows no respect toward her mother, who came with her to see Dr. Weston. As the episode starts, we see Sophie and her mother, Olivia, outside the office. Sophie wants her mother to go away, but her mother stands firm and comes inside.

Paul wanted to discuss things with Olivia to see if there is something he is missing in order to treat the daughter. Sophie shows a complete lack of appreciation for a mother that was abandoned by her husband for another woman. Sophie expresses her desire to live with her father, something that Olivia finds ridiculous because the man is never around to do much good.

When Sophie is alone with Paul, he calms her somewhat. He also asks her for her cooperation in not trying to do anything foolish like last time when she came in. At one point, Olivia comes back to give Paul the check for payment, and Sophie lashes an incredible amount of venom directed at Olivia, asking the mother to start searching for burial plots.

Paris Barclay directed the episode. He brings a new intensity to the program, something that was kept in check by the previous directors. The chapter was written by Sarah Treem, an usual contributor. The acting is first rate. Gabriel Byrne, Mia Wasikowska and Julia Campbell were seen at their best.

Unbelievable!
GLArm18 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Mr. Therapist is so unprofessional and downright creepy. He knows that his 16 year old patient has had sex with her gymnastics coach and has tried to kill herself at least twice - once in his office where he left a bottle of prescription sleeping pills in the medicine cabinet of the connected bathroom. (And he doesn't even feel guilty about that!! He's a therapist treating patients, some of whom are suicidal and he leaves pills they could use to kill themselves within their reach!)

He, mr. know it all therapist, gives permission to Sophie to return to training with the same coach who had sex with her. Even though the mother is, understandably, against it. He should be reporting the gymnastics coach to the police and to the gymnastics community, not telling the girl to return to coach's reach, a week or two after her latest suicide attempt!

I'm not sure I can keep watching this show. Between Paul's lusting after his disturbed Lolita-like patient and completely ignoring his wife and just generally acting like a major league jerk............. probably time to dump this series.
