Jackie Chan To Film Karate Kid 2

20 December 2013 7:42 AM, PST | AsianMoviePulse | See recent AsianMoviePulse news »

Jackie Chan, the greatest action legend of all time is set to film a sequel to his 2010 hit The Karate Kid. There is no story line released yet, just that Jackie and Jaden will both be starring in the next movie which is to be shot next year.

Many people thought Jackie did a fantastic job in the first movie, showing his acting ability to the audiences. Now that Jackie is getting older, we can no longer see him performing death dying stunts, but he can certainly still bust out moves with the best of them.

When there is more news about the cast, director and story, we will surely let you guys know.

‘Sesame Street’ Draws in Adults with Pop Culture Parodies

30 October 2013 11:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Sesame Street” scored a viral-vid hit this week with its cheeky take on “Homeland,” which is just the latest in a string of pop culture parodies that the venerable kidvid franchise has produced in recent years.

In addition to “Homelamb,” which drew instant industry attention after its release on Monday, “Sesame Street” has offered its take on series ranging from “Mad Men” and “Desperate Housewives” to “30 Rock” and “Sons of Anarchy.” The show has also produced movie spoofs and music video parodies for hits like Icona Pop’s “I Love It” and Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”

The PBS mainstay is obviously aimed at a demo that isn’t old enough to stay up for “Homeland,” et al. So why make references that only their parents would understand? “Sesame Street” executive producer Carol-Lynn Parente says it’s all about dual engagement.

There are a couple of new faces on this year’s Most Valuable Stars list, including Jessica Chastain, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Carey Mulligan, but the presence of those favored few means that some of the big names from the 2012 list didn’t make the cut for a second round. Take a look at these cautionary tales and despair accordingly.Jaden SmithWhen you’ve made so few movies that you can still count them on one hand, it only takes a single misfire to dislodge you from the Most Valuable Stars list. DVD Review: 'After Earth'

15 October 2013 3:50 AM, PDT | CineVue | See recent CineVue news »

★★☆☆☆ After a string of underwhelming films, much-maligned American director M. Night Shyamalan - who was remarkably being touted as 'the next Spielberg' only a decade ago - is now associated with flops. For his latest endeavour, the auteur has called upon the talents of father-son duo Will and Jaden Smith for apocalyptic sci-fi After Earth (2013). Whilst it's still not the return to form that avid Shyamalan fans were hoping for, it's far from the disaster that some have been dreading. The narrative (which was conceived by Smith Sr.) is set over a thousand years in the future, where cataclysmic events have forced humans to abandon Earth.

General Cypher Raige (silly name, Smith Sr.) and his son Kitai (Smith Jr.) are on a routine trip through space when an asteroid storm damages their craft, forcing them to crash land on the derelict planet. With Cypher seriously injured, it's up to Kitai »

Jaden Smith Encourages Dropping Out: School Brainwashes The Youth

17 September 2013 9:12 AM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Is Jaden jaded? (Sorry, I had to.) In a new series of tweets, Will Smith’s son shared that he doesn’t think schooling is exactly necessary — and actually admits he thinks dropping out is a good thing.

At 15, Jaden Smith sure has a lot to say about schooling! The Karate Kid actor tweeted for two days in a row about education, and how people would be “much more intelligent” if they just dropped out!

Jaden Smith Encourages Dropping Out Of School

“School Is The Tool To Brainwash The Youth,” Jaden tweeted out to his 4.5 million followers on Sept. 12. While we thought that was a little off — it was just the beginning.

That same day he added, “Education Is Rebellion,” and “If Newborn Babies Could Speak They Would Be The Most Intelligent Beings On Planet Earth.”

Well, tell us how you really feel, Jaden!

Ip Man

Directed by Wilson Yip

Written by Edmond Wong and Chan Tai-Li

Hong Kong, 2008

In this biopic, Donnie Yen is Ip Man, one of the earliest Wing Chun martial arts exponents and the man credited to have elevated its popularity in the early parts of the 20th century. Best known for his role as Bruce Lee’s first mentor, Ip Man is godlike amongst martial arts fans. As far as biopics goes, Ip Man isn’t really award-winning material. The picture takes plenty of liberties with the facts of the legendary practitioner of the Southern Chinese fighting style. It’s slightly exaggerated and fairly straightforward storytelling, but first and foremost, Ip Man is an excuse for Yen to demonstrate his newfound mastery of the Wing Chun style – and on that front, the film succeeds brilliantly.

Ip Man is a joy on various levels due mostly to the quality of »

<< Continued from "Summer 2013: Winners & Losers"LosersThe Lone Ranger: This Summer, The Lone Ranger has been the poster child for Hollywood's bad habit of overspending on original tentpole movies. Adapted from a radio show that reached the height of its popularity around half a century ago, the movie has earned a decent $239 million worldwide, and still has an opening in China on the horizon. Unfortunately, it cost well over $200 million to produce*an outlandish figure for a Western*and will therefore wind up losing Disney an absurd amount of money.Turbo: DreamWorks Animation's Turbo may be the movie that suffered the most this Summer from poor scheduling. The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones Movie Review

28 August 2013 10:27 AM, PDT | | See recent AreYouScreening news »

As the movie world opens its doors to more and more young adult adaptations, and finds that they are somewhat overpopulated with dystopias… and vampires, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones tries to find its audience, and largely by playing against type wherever possible. It’s hard to sell that in the summary though.

Our story opens with Clary (Lily Collins) becoming exposed to the supernatural world she never knew she was a part of. Strange things start happening, especially the sudden appearance of a symbol that seems to follow Clary around, even to the point that she can’t stop drawing it. This leads us in to her mother, Jocelyn (Lena Headey), disappearing, and now Clary has only the mysterious Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower) to rely on if she wants to figure out what’s going on.

Unfortunately, she just watched Jace cut someone down in a club, and »

‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ Recalls Folk’s Age of Innocence

When it was revealed two years ago that the Coen brothers’ next project would revolve around the Greenwich Village folk scene of the early ’60s, the first thought that came to mind was “who’s going to play Dylan?” But Judas is nowhere to be found in the filmmakers’ prelapsarian world of troubadours, beat poets and their exploiters.

Instead, as Variety’s Scott Foundas wrote in his Cannes review of “Inside Llewyn Davis,” being released Dec. 6 by CBS Films, “the Coens have again taken a real time and place and freely made it their own, drawing on actual persons and events for inspiration, but binding themselves only to their own bountiful imaginations.”

As T Bone Burnett, executive music producer on the film and co-producer with the Coens of the soundtrack, tells Variety: “This is about a time that is very much like the time we’ve been in — an interregnum »
