The Detective Conan movies are pretty inconsistent in quality, there are some truly great ones, and there are bad ones, like this movie. Honestly, I have no idea why they decided to do this, to cash in on the popularity of One Piece? I mean, I'm not opposed to hidden treasures and pirates, but they don't do anything interesting with it. I mean, they're not trying, this is one of the most boring movies in the series. Look, let's compare it with another movie I didn't like, Movie 8, that movie had a good first half and a lousy second half. This one has a dull first half, or first hour and a decent last 40 minutes. There's virtually no action to speak of, only the car chase at the beginning is marginally exciting. The overall mystery is pretty lame, and the actual treasure is a disappointment. The running time, what's with the near 2 hour running time on the Detective Conan movies, many does not need to be near 2 hours long, and this one doesn't need it at all. As some other weaker entries it's pretty slow paced and sure takes it's time.
So what did I like? Well, certain of the underwater scenes are pretty cool, with some mean looking sharks swimming around. One death occurs, but it's not shown. This is one of the tamer movies in the series, and despite a scene where Sonoko's arm is slashed by a knife, this is pretty kid-friendly, there's no murder mystery at the core and the villains aren't particularly threatening or scary, though they do wield knives and threaten some characters with them. The guy who voices Giroro in Keroro Gunso voices the leader of the bad guys, so that's a big plus for that great voice. I just liked certain small scenes, such as Ayumi seemingly worrying about Haibara leaving with Conan, whom she loves. Kogoro's bragging at the beginning. The scene after the credits and other small moments. The overall story though is nothing special.
Detective Conan Movie 11 is one of the weakest in the series, it's not terrible, I mean, I didn't hate it, but it's pretty uninteresting and dull. Though, again there are certain sweet moments to be found here.
