Barbara Nichols. A staple in tv for decades, without too much surprise worked as a model in her early years before entering movies, and at a time was considered a rival to Marilyn Monroe. She was a fun actress and generally played sly blondes with lots of tricks up her sleeves. A member of the BATMAN cult alumnus in the 1960s, playing Maid Marion in a few episodes. Here she plays Vivian Valentine, a movie star linked to Dagwood in a wild publicity stunt --they were old lovers! This has shades of BLONDIE ON A BUDGET (1940), where Dagwood's ex girl friend was Rita Hayworth, causing confusion and of course jealousy for Blondie. Watch for the wacky vignettes with Dagwood in a tux and also playing a football star. Familiar character actor Eddie Ryder plays Stanley, Nichol's press agent who came up with the goofy scheme. Also look for sci fi cult actress Pamela Duncan in a small role. Hal Roach, Jr., son of the legendary producer, produced this tv show, which was one of the last to be filmed at his father's Culver City studio. The lot was torn down in the early 1960s to make way for expanding strip malls, condos and about everything else southern California is famous for. The tv series is finally on dvd.
