Dabbling with various titles, I stumbled across this one the other day and I had always thought I'd like Andrew Jackson, but I'm not so sure about my feelings on the man anymore.
Built on the "Old Hickory" saga, Jackson was a man who face insurmountable odds in the Battle of New Orleans against the British in the War of 1812 and won just as handily as he did when it came to facing down the United States Bank of America and it's president at the time (a man named Bittle). But this story taught me that your political battles can be more deadly than any battle fought with lead on a field, and Jackson, inevitably, paid its toll, as well.
As a mild historian, I found this film very informative and would recommend it to anyone wishing to find out more about the man and where he came from (which was NOT from Tennessee, by the way, but, rather, the Carolina regions). But be prepared for the ending, because if you don't know much about the man (other than the fact he made it onto the twenty dollar bill and was the only president in US history to wipe out our national debt), you might be in for a bit of a shock.
7 out of 10 stars.
