CNN’s Van Jones Fires Back at James O’Keefe

29 June 2017 5:08 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

CNN’s Van Jones fired back at James O’Keefe Thursday, calling the right-wing provocateur “the kind of person from whom decent people run like the plague” in a column published on CNN.com.

O’Keefe’s Project Veritas, known for stings in which he secretly records members of media organizations and non-profits that he views as left-leaning, on Thursday released a video in which Jones can be heard calling investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election “a big nothing-burger.” The new video came two days after O’Keefe released one in which CNN producer John Bonifield criticized the cabler’s coverage of Trump’s ties to Russia.

“Did I mean that there is ‘nothing’ to the allegations that members of team Trump colluded with the Russians and then tried to cover it up by firing FBI Director James Comey? No — and far from it,” Jones, a former Obama administration official and host of CNN’s »

‘Daily Show’ Alum Al Madrigal Tackles Strip-Club Yelp Reviews and Cilantro Politics in Standup Special ‘Shrimpin’ Ain’t Easy’ — Watch

2 May 2017 3:59 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Al Madrigal is about to have a real Showtime month.

Before he makes his way onto TV screens as loose-cannon comedian Edgar Martinez in the Jim Carrey-produced Showtime series “I’m Dying Up Here,” Madrigal will be starring in his own one-hour stand-up special “Al Madrigal: Shrimpin’ Aint Easy,” premiering on Showtime on Saturday, May 5. Ahead of the the special’s Cinco de Mayo debut, we have two clips highlighting the former “Daily Show” correspondent’s hilarious take on Yelp reviews and an “‘Ocean’s Eleven’-style” takedown of Donald Trump. (you may want to hold the cilantro on your next order of tacos)

The comedy special will also feature Madrigal tackling important issues including dark family secrets, parenting, anger management, and an unbelievable tale of seafood gone wrong.

Unforgettable review – Katherine Heigl finally gets her revenge

23 April 2017 12:00 AM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

The ultimate uptight blond turns psychotic ex-wife in a silly thriller that tries – and heroically fails – to be the new Fatal Attraction

Poor Katherine Heigl has been typecast as the uptight blond (think the unfortunate trifecta of Knocked Up, 27 Dresses and The Ugly Truth). Here, she at least has fun with that typecasting as tightly wound and sleekly coiffed troublemaker Tessa. A Bay Area psycho Barbie, Tessa is determined to make life difficult for her beer-brewing, rent-a-hunk, ex-husband’s (Geoff Stults) new girlfriend, Julia (a heroic Rosario Dawson, playing it as straight as the hammy script will allow). Enjoyable, too, is the inversion of the black best friend trope, with Julia’s supportive, zany bestie played by Whitney Cummings of 2 Broke Girls.

Movie super-producer Denise Di Novi’s directorial debut casts itself as an erotic thriller in the tradition of Fatal Attraction; to me, it had more in common with »

Fate Of The Furious Faces A Forgettable Foursome -- The Weekend Warrior

19 April 2017 8:00 AM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Welcome back to the Weekend Warrior, your weekly look at the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, as well as other cool events and things to check out.

Will This April Dump Weekend See Any New Movie Open Over $10 Million?

After the decent opening of last week’s The Fate of the Furious--though not quite as much as I predicted--it’s going to be hard for any new movie to make a mark against its second weekend even if it drops 55% or more this weekend, which is very likely.

Probably the best bet to make money this weekend is the thriller Unforgettable (Warner Bros.), which pits Kathryn Heigl against Rosario Dawson and is the directorial debut by producer Denise Di Novi (Crazy, Stupid, Love). It also stars Geoff Stults as the ex-husband of Heigl’s character Tessa, who becomes engaged to Dawson’s Julia, making her the stepmom to the former’s daughter, »
