Enjoyable but I had one issue with this one....

"Secrets of the Dead" is an unusual series. Sometimes I really enjoy the shows and sometimes I think that the program is too focused on making sensational statements intended to hook the audience instead of educating them. This is the case with "Egypt's Darkest Hour"...an interesting show that seems to draw a lot of conclusions based on scant evidence.

The show begins by exploring a dig where the remains of 60 people were discovered--all unwrapped from their mummy wrappings and smashed to pieces. What occurred here and why is the subject of the show. It then discusses the reign of Pepi II and the fall of the Old Kingdom. Some possible contributing factors were drought and the failure of Pepi's successors....but again and again, the show draws many conclusions instead of saying 'perhaps' or 'possibly'...and it's very hard to be certain about what happened 4500 years ago. Not a bad show but it just seemed too concerned with presenting theories as fact.
