Casting website removes ad for 18-year-old to play 13-year-old girl fleeing abuse after intervention by the Union of British Columbia Performers
A convicted paedophile film-maker is facing outrage after issuing a casting call for the part of a young girl who flees her abusive grandfather in his new horror film.
Victor Salva, best known for the Jeepers Creepers movies, plans to shoot sequel Jeepers Creepers III on location in British Columbia, Canada, this spring. But a call for the role of 13-year-old Addison has now been removed from a casting website after the local actors’ union publicised the film-maker’s past.

I've broached the subject of Jeepers Creepers 3 and Victor Salva here before, first with an op-ed shortly after the project was announced and most recently during a discussion with filmmaker, author and Dread Central West Coast contributor Staci Layne Wilson once production on the film was rumored to be imminent (you can watch our convo above or below). The crux of the issue involves Salva's 1988 criminal conviction on charges of sexually molesting the 12-year-old star of his 1989 debut feature Clownhouse -- for which he served 15 months of a 3 year sentence -- and his continued Hollywood career in spite of that horrendous act. As we reported last week, Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral is getting ready to start shooting in Canada. But the production has hit a snag. Director Victor Salva's criminal past is coming back to haunt him. The Canadian Performers Union has nixed a casting call that went out a few days ago. Though it's not yet clear how this will affect production, or if it will stall the start date of the long-delayed sequel.
Way back in 1988, Victor Salva pleaded no contest and was convicted for engaging in oral copulation with a minor. The director, who was making the horror thriller Clownhouse at the time, reportedly video taped himself in sexual acts with that movie's then 12-year-old lead actor Nathan Forrest Winters. The filmmaker served 19 months in jail. And has since gone onto have a fairly successful film career, writing and directing Jeepers Creepers in 2001 and its 2003 sequel Jeepers Creepers 2. »
Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral is one of the many long-gestating sequels we often hear about but never see come to fruition. There has been a thirteen year hibernation period between now and the sequel Jeepers Creepers 2, which arrived in 2003. This past September, it was reported that director Victor Salva was finally ready to bring the Creeper back. Now we have word from Bloody Disgusting that shooting will actually begin next month. And that an original Jeepers Creepers cast member is returning.
Yes, if this story pans out, Gina Philips' Trish will finally get her revenge for the cruel death of her brother, played in the 2001 classic by Justin Long. The sequel is set to shoot in Vancouver, Canada sometime in April. At this time, none of this information has been confirmed by anyone directly involved with the movie.
Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral will also reportedly bring back the »
