Halloween is still a ways away, but it's always a good time for a scary movie night in. This list has a variety of movies in the horror genre ready to stream on Netflix, from the truly creepy boogeyman sleeper bit The Babadook to the epically cheesy, like Sorority Row, and the franchise that just kept going (yep, Saw V). Ready for your horror marathon? These quintessential horror films are already streaming and a great place to start. »
*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by Sony Pictures. Director: David Hackl. Writers: Jack Reher and Guy Moshe. Cast: James Marsden, Thomas Jane, Piper Perabo, Scott Glenn and Billy Bob Thornton. “When a grizzly gets angry, they don't give a shit whether you're a logger or a treehugger. All of you taste the same.” David Hackl (Saw V) and his all-star cast take you deep into Alaska's picturesque woods in search of a killer bear in Into The Grizzly Maze. The film, which was actually shot in Vancouver, is an intense thriller with a clear moral agenda—to raise awareness about our destructive role in environmental degradation. While the film's message is strong, it's not too heavy-handed in its delivery, still allowing for an action-packed “natural horror”adventure. Though unnecessary, the celebrity cast makes for a more enjoyable watch; it's fun to see big name actors »

Severed limbs, evil poachers, and a gigantic killer grizzly bear – oh my! That’s exactly what Saw V director David Hackl aims to deliver in his new animalistic thriller, Into The Grizzly Maze, and he certainly doesn’t fail. The film wastes little time introducing viewers to a massive, angry bear who doesn’t take kindly to illegal hunters invading its home turf, so he/she decides to get revenge through his/her own series of grotesque murders. For every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction, but when you screw with Mother Nature, that reaction is usually a Hell of a lot worse than normal. Mess with the bull, you get the horns – or in this case, you get the bear claws.

Plot: In the film, a deputy whose mission is protecting the threatened grizzly bear suddenly finds himself conflicted when a massive rogue grizzly wreaks havoc on a local Alaskan community. As the body count mounts, and an infamous bear hunter enters the fray determined to take down the bear he's been waiting for his whole life, no one is safe in the harsh Alaskan wilds. If you listen closely, you can almost hear the elevator pitch on this one. It’s like Jaws, right? But, it’s in the forest – with a giant bear, guys with guns, and a token ballsy blonde to keep the ladies happy. Sure, it sounds like Into The Grizzly Maze basically writes itself, but the most cursory of looks at the newly released trailer suggests that this might actually have a very healthy B-movie pulse to it. What else could account for the presence of the legendary Scott Glenn, and Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton?
Directed by David Hackl (Saw V), and written by Guy Moshe (Bunraku) and J.R. Reher (making his feature length debut),the story sees two brothers reconnect with each other during a two day hike through their Alaskan childhood stomping ground. Unfortunately, it seems that their bonding experience coincides with a local bear attack issue, »

It has been referred to as Red Machine, Endangered and Grizzly, but Into the Grizzly Maze is now the official title for the upcoming wilderness horror starring James Marsden, Scott Glenn, Billy Bob Thornton, Thomas Jane and Piper Perabo from Saw V director David Hackl. Now I want to prepare you for this one as this is a trailer unlike any I've seen in some time as it has a bear blowing it's stanky breath on Piper Perabo, Billy Bob Thornton rattling off some wonderful bits of D-level dialogue and a bear that busts through a flaming wall of fire. Yes, you read that right. The Indominous Rex from "Jurassic World" won't be the only angry creature stomping around cinemas this summer. A grizzly bear who is apparently mad as hell is on the loose in "Into The Grizzly Maze," and the first trailer has arrived for what is either a trashy B-movie delight or....not. Read More: 'Jurassic World' Is Actually A Direct Sequel To 'Jurassic Park' James Marsden, Billy Bob Thornton, Thomas Jane, and Piper Perabo star in the David Hackl ("Saw V") directed movie about two brothers who are stalked in the Alaskan wild by one giant, dangerous, pissed off bear. "This ain't your average bear, this is a clever one," someone quips in the movie, which indicates this won't be too taxing on the brain. It's man vs. animal, and you'll just have to watch to see who survives. "Into The Grizzly Maze" is on Dish right now, and opens on June 26th. »

With many of horror’s classic big-bads being rejuvenated and renewed many times over, it seems that one of the genre’s biggest figures, Michael Myers, is set to return in a new film from Dimension Films.
The Hollywood Reporter is today reporting that a new chapter of the Halloween franchise is set to go before the cameras very soon, with frequent Saw writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, Saw 3D) set to write the film, which is being touted as a “re-calibration” rather than a reboot or remake.
In layman’s terms, it would seem that the new film would be in-line with Rob Zombie’s previous two Halloween films, keeping continuity from those but changing some other elements. There had been word last year to that effect over the status of the franchise.
While Melton and Dunstan are involved, no director has »

Dimension Films is going back to Haddonfield, Illinois for a new Halloween project, hiring writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who wrote the last four Saw movies, to craft the screenplay. Heat Vision Blog's sources say the project is not a reboot, remake or a re-imagining, with one source calling the project a "re-calibration." No director is attached at this time, and no details were given for this new story, which will likely still follow the maniacal serial killer Michael Myers.
We reported back in August that The Weinstein Company/Dimension Films are calling the project Halloween: The Next Chapter. The story would follow the same continuity from Rob Zombie's Halloween and Halloween II reboots, although Rob Zombie himself was not coming back to direct. Those details have yet to be confirmed, but the earlier report also indicated that the studio was throwing out the previous version of the »
