Trailer Watch: Noomi Rapace Is Abducted & Subjected to Experiments in “Rupture”

28 March 2017 10:02 AM, PDT | Women and Hollywood | See recent Women and Hollywood news »

Rupture

An idyllic day quickly transforms into the stuff of nightmares in a newly released trailer for “Rupture.” Renee (Noomi Rapace), a single mom, lovingly says goodbye to her son and drives to meet a friend on a particularly beautiful, sunny day. Before she reaches her destination, she gets a flat tire. Two men in a van offer to help but Renee declines their assistance and insists she knows how to fix a flat. But they don’t actually want to help her — and the flat was no accident. It’s there in broad daylight that the two tackle Renee, taser her, and cover her mouth with tape in what’s clearly a premeditated attack.

Renee’s life is “thrown into chaos when she is randomly abducted, drugged, and taken to a secret lab facility,” “Rupture’s” official synopsis hints. “As her captors traumatically experiment on her, Renee must discover why she was chosen and fight to escape her prison.”

“They need us,” Renee is told by a fellow prisoner. One of her captors explains, “You have something very special in you.” Watch the intense trailer to see what the lab wants from Renee — and how they plan to get it.

Rapace’s credits include “Passion,” “Prometheus,” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” She’s signed on to star in “Callas,” Niki Caro’s biopic about opera legend Maria Callas.

Directed by Steven Shainberg (“Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus,” “Secretary”), "Rupture” opens April 28.

Will Smith reteams with director David Ayer to play a supernatural cop in the teaser trailer for Netflix movie Bright.

While Netflix has been flexing its ever-expanding muscles with plenty of original high-profile projects, the upcoming Bright may just take things to a new level. After winning a $90 million bidding war to acquire the film last March, the streaming giant stacked it with a bevy of big-names, notably reuniting Will Smith with Suicide Squad director David Ayer. Now, this intriguing offering has released an appetite-whetting teaser trailer.

Bright Teaser: Fantasy Meets Reality In New Will Smith Film From Director David Ayer

27 February 2017 8:47 AM, PST | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

David Ayer has had quite the career thus far. He had his start writing such films as U-571, and the original Fast and the Furious film. From there, he hit his most high profile picture yet when he wrote Training Day, a film that would go on to be praised as one of Denzel Washington’s best performances yet.

In the mid-2000s, Ayer transition into directing, and over the next decade or so, he would establish himself as a helmer of violent dramas that include Street Kings, End of Watch, Sabotage, and Fury. Last year, his most high profile film yet, Suicide Squad hit theaters, and despite making all kinds of money at the box office, it was met with widespread ridicule from critics and fans. Regardless of what you thought of the film, however, there was little denying that he was a talented director. And like any good director, »

Unlocked trailer, starring Noomi Rapace and Orlando Bloom

Joseph Baxter Feb 10, 2017

The trailer for terrorism-teeming thriller Unlocked teams CIA agent Noomi Rapace and MI5 agent Orlando Bloom.

The upcoming action thriller Unlocked will soon arrive as a surprisingly low-key affair, especially considering the rather impressive cast it brings. While the film industry has collectively pumped out more than its share of post-9/11 dramas filled with nightmarish scenarios in which the threat of wanton Western destruction is on the table, Unlocked seems to throw in a pinch of the conspiracy thriller genre, with an oil-and-water partnership.

The debut trailer for Unlocked showcases a slick, fast-paced suspenseful affair starring a CIA operative played by Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, the original Swedish The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), who, after the interrogation of a captured terrorist underling, comes upon crucial information about a biological attack on London that suddenly makes her a target from ersatz agents working for the terrorists.
