Diablo Cody has revealed that she is scared of girls. The scriptwriter, who wrote cheerleading murder film Jennifer's Body, said: 'When I started the script, I was thinking about what's scary to me and I decided, girls are scary! One of the first lines of the movie is 'Hell is teenagers'. 'If you think about all the subgenres of horror . vampires, werewolves, zombies . none of these transformations is as profound as puberty. The experience of becoming an adolescent is horrifying. 'Everyone knows the alpha female. She steals your boyfriend and dates the guys you can't have. Megan Fox has revealed that she cannot stand watching her screen kiss with Amanda Seyfried. The 23-year-old actress, who stars with Seyfried in movie Jennifer's Body, said that she is not comfortable watching the kissing scene because it reminds her of how 'awkward' it was to film. 'I feel it's so awkward and quiet, there is no score underneath it and it's just... Could you watch yourself doing it? It's awkward and it was really awkward to film it,' she said. 'I would say it's easier kissing someone who you know doesn't want to kiss you, that's more comfortable than going into a scene with somebody that you think is anticipating it or is going to enjoy »

2010 Winter movie preview (part 2)

31 December 2009 8:46 AM, PST | Tampa Film Examiner | See recent Tampa Film Examiner news »

What's worth it this season?

A variety of movies are hitting the theaters this Winter, but which ones are worth the price of admission?  Until the expert critics (me) have their reviews up for these upcoming flicks, the only element moviegoers can go on are trailers and casting.  Based on that, here's a look at the 2nd half of 2010 Winter releases.

Read Part 1

Screen Gems is coming out strong in 2010.  They have a slew of releases early on and hope the variety of material they're putting out will attract audiences.  Dear John comes out in early February, and it tells the tale of a soldier who goes back on active duty, after the 9/11 attacks.  The plot will focus on the soldier's relationship with a young girl he meets prior to the attacks and how him reenlisting, takes a toll on their bond.  Channing Tatum will play the soldier and Amanda Seyfried (Jennifer's Body, »

DVD releases for Tuesday December 29, 2009

29 December 2009 4:43 PM, PST | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

I'm kind of choked because Pandorum was supposed to street today, but has been pushed back to January. Ah well, at least we've got a decent Pa flick in Carriers (review, amazon) streeting today. A few of us have seen the film and my opinion seems to be the highest. Not a perfect film by any means, but it was nice to watch a fairly smart post-apocalyptic road movie that didn't rely on zombies for a change.

Also out this week is Shane Acker's post-apocalyptic animated film, 9 (review, amazon). High on action, but a little light in the story details, I'd say it's defintiely worth a spin for its original vision and style.

Another film that streets today and is not quite as mediocre as some would have you believe is A Perfect Getaway (amazon, written and directed by David Twohy. The film relies on a pretty heavy conceit to be sure, »

Christian Serratos was talking about going to Greece yesterday, but last night she was post pictures from her trip to the White House, where she visited a cardboard Christmas tree.

In other tweets, Mindy Kaling saw "Avatar," and she and fellow "Office" cast member Rainn Wilson ran a hypothetical question about how Dwight would react to Na'vi. Click on past the jump to see what they predicted along with what Adam Duritz gave Emmy Rossum for Christmas, whose Wii workout game Diablo Cody has been using and what Neil Gaiman security pat-down he had to endure. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for December 29, 2009.

This Week on DVD: 9, Paranormal Activity, Jennifer’s Body

29 December 2009 9:39 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

There are only a handful of new DVD releases hitting stores today, but there are some decent titles that chose to wait until after the holiday rush to make their home video debut. The indie horror phenomenon Paranormal Activity rushes to stores today, along with the CG-animated sci-fi adventure 9 and Diablo Cody's horror-comedy Jennifer's Body starring Megan Fox (both of which disappointed at the box office). Diablo Cody's Showtime series The United States of Tara is also out today, along with one of the best new shows on television, Glee, which is unfortunately opting to nickel and dime fans with partial season sets. Still need more? The direct-to-dvd WWE action film The Marine 2 is out today too. Let's just hope it lives up to the original. Ready to ring in the New Year with a few movies to watch at home? I've got some fresh picks for you - and more than one is perfect for a good scare! Paranormal Activity If you're anything like me, then you might have been intrigued, but too terrified to see Paranormal Activity in theaters. Now that it's on DVD, perhaps you'll feel braver about checking out the Blair Witch Project-esque film that features "lost" footage of a couple as they are tormented by other-worldly elements in their home. The movie had one of the most successful viral marketing campaigns of all time earlier this year, so it might be worth checking out just to finally see for yourself what all your friends have been talking about. DVD extras include an alternate ending and a downloadable digital copy of the film. 82% See two more releases when you read more. Jennifer's Body »

Jennifer's Body

Written by Diablo Cody and directed by Karyn Kusama, Jennifer's Body is a horror movie for people who don't like horror movies, dawdling and teasing and never really coming to grips with whatever it is it's supposed to be about. Amanda Seyfried easily walks away with the picture from ostensible star Megan Fox. But it's worth watching for the discussions it will provoke. Available in both theatrical and extended versions. Rent it. Also on Blu-ray. Diablo fans can also pick up her premium cable TV series, United States of Tara: Season One.

Paranormal Activity

Ten years after The Blair Witch Project, another 'fake reality' scare show connects with jaded audiences. The simplicity of the set-up by director Oren Peli and the warmth of the married couple -- fighting a bit, loving a bit, pushing each other a bit -- adds to the creepy atmosphere. »

Paranormal Activity I have talked about this film to death, but now that it's on home video I guess I can be done with it. One thing I can be certain of, is Paramount won't be using my pull quote any longer for this one that said, "You must see this film in theaters," because now that would simply be counter-productive. However, if you do check this one out at home be sure to turn all the lights off and do your best to enjoy it, and don't allow some loudmouth trying to mask their fright with jokes ruin the experience. This film was a lot of fun for me in theaters and hopefully that can be duplicated at home. A Perfect Getaway This was one of my eight Honorable Mentions of 2009 yesterday and I definitely recommend you check it out, »

2009 Was the Year of Puking

28 December 2009 5:32 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Six months ago, at 2009's halfway mark, I noted a hot, fast-rising trend: onscreen vomiting. And not the discreet kind, either, where someone is hunched over a toilet and we hear sounds but don't see any actual barf. I'm talking about movies where you actually see the chunder as it spews from the person's mouth. That kind of thing used to be rare in movies -- but not this year!

As of June, we'd seen it in Adventureland, The Haunting in Connecticut, Drag Me to Hell, Observe and Report, The Hangover, Year One, My Sister's Keeper, and I Love You, Man. Since that first post, I spotted 10 more: The International, Miss March, Thirst, District 9, Jennifer's Body, Zombieland, The Road, The Fourth Kind, Gentlemen Broncos, and Precious. That's 18 puke movies in one year. A new record?? I can only assume.

Why the excess of ralphing? The obvious answer would be that it's funny, »
