Hang all directors who use the shake camera
jeffreyliberty7 September 2013
The shake camera is the cheesiest most nauseating method of trying to fake action that there is.

The plot was good and have several surprises and the action kept you going. I thought it was also very realistic from a political point of view.

Some stupidity was present and unnecessary such as the trigger for the bomb in her hand not being allowed to be released yet seeing her in many scenes running with her hands wide open only later to see that somewhere along the line it had been taped firmly to her hand ... lol

This movie was worthy of a strong 7 if it were not for this director's addiction to this derelict practice of shaking the camera to blur the scene permitting the cover-up of poorly executed stunts and fight scenes etc.

I sincerely believe that any director who uses this in films should be banned from directing any film ever again.

If I 'd live forever...

Warning: Spoilers
...I wouldn't mind seeing movies like this. The plot is not special but at least the acting is very bad. When i say very bad, i mean like BAD. Knowing that o bomb have been implanted in your head would make you panic like hell, but no, that's not what is happening with one of our character. She's very chilled about that and acts like a bug injected one egg in her body and a short visit to a doctor would make this problem disappear. Oh, did I mentioned that she's hot? That didn't save her bad acting though.

The male protagonist is as bad at acting as the other character interprets, except maybe the actor in the senator's role (Danor Gerald) who's about to be assassinated. He is more natural than any other actor in this movie.

There're some fight scenes that are pretty good, but that's not a reason to spend more than an hour watching a movie that will bring you nothing new, nothing to think about and more propaganda about evil countries.

Unless you are very bored and you have absolutely nothing to do instead, don't watch this title. Do your shopping for the next month or year and also save some money.

Decent action flick
Teks920 January 2009
Let me be clear, this is not the movie of the year but this is a decent action movie. Forget the storyline, the acting (which is below average), but for your time you will get: - Some very good fighting scenes: well choreographed, realistic, well paced and above all properly edited. Remember movies such as RE: Apocalypse where you couldn't tell which move was being performed by Ms Jovovich? Well this is the opposite, old style brutal fighting scenes. - A decent spec-op style intro sequence - A very beautiful red hair damsel in distress - One very angry muscular hero. That's it, so you are warned. Go watch it if you like a good "kill you in two moves" kinda film. Otherwise, hit the road.

Better than you would expect!
vnums24 January 2009
This film doesn't have much in terms of a cast, budget, or acting, but what it lacks in those areas it makes up for by being fun to watch.. somehow.

You can tell right off the bat that the film is low budget, not a Hollywood blockbuster, and doesn't feature any big names. The acting is dry and terribly forced in some places, but it doesn't detract from the overall pace or excitement of the film. The action sequences are pretty much non-stop, and you're never left with long patches of dialogue or drawn out scenes with no action -- which, I'll be honest, for this film is a good thing.

Anyway, you're presented with a fast-paced action ala one man against a slew of "bad guys" (who this time happen to be North Koreans) in a race against time to save a loved one. It's a pretty typical story, but off skew just enough for it to be enjoyable and not entirely akin to 25 cent action movies from the bargain bin. This, coupled with the abundance of well-choreographed action scenes makes this film a fun ride.

Bottom line, if you go in expecting this to be an amazing, thought provocative action film with densely woven plot lines, you'll be rather disappointed. On the other hand, if you go in thinking this is going to be some kind of cheese fest (see "The Marine"), you'll be more than pleasantly surprised. It is the best it can be for what it is, if that makes any sense.

Not too bad a film, certainly not the worst I've seen
MickyFin18 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Having watched this film last night, it started off at a pace detailing the background, and character build of Michael, an ex Navy Seal, and what he had been through.

Five years on from what happened in North Korea, his past comes back to haunt him, in a peculiar twist of events, which even now having watched the film, still cannot understand, how, and why.

Not too bad a film, some good fighting sequences, but overall, plot, storyline, and acting are quite poor, although, as said, the fighting sequences are what make this film, but thats about it. So if you like martial arts, then this film maybe for you, but don't get your hopes up on a great ending. I was kind of deflated when I realized the film neared its end.

I am not going to delve into the story one bit here. Please look at the synopsis for that. After reading the synopsis, if you want to watch this movie then read on. This is one of the worst movies I have watched in recent times and let me tell you, I watch a lot. I have never given a user comment for a movie. I voted a few times for contributions and sometimes for the movie itself when I felt strong about the movie- either good or bad, but this one evoked so strong a response that I tracked down the IMDb page and sat down to write a warning. This is no review. Just refrain from watching the movie. Accepted that people are passionate when making movies, these people, the director, actors and all others remotely connected to this movie don't know what they are doing.

Similar to Die Hard with a 24 feel.
defucter27 January 2009
When I first read the synopsis, I thought, "Are they serious?" So it sounds a tad far-fetched. So maybe more than a *tad. But overall, this was a decent action flick. The best ever? No. But better than many I've watched. It feels like a 24 type movie--when the school phone rang with the 24 scene-change ring-tone, I had to chuckle. This flick lacks Jack Bauer, but the characters are likable, and the actors did great with what they had to work with, though I've never heard of any of them. Many action actors can fight but they can't act. Not true with Matthew Reese. I haven't seen anything else he's been in, but he did a good job with his part. Jennifer Klekas was a hot damsel in distress and she kicked some a$$, too. Although the storyline could be improved to make it more believable, the lines worked with this story. But how many action flicks are all that believable anyway? If you like 24 or some of Jean-Claude's flicks or anything from the Die Hard franchise, you'll probably enjoy this movie. The action sequences were fast-paced and raw. Mostly hand-to-hand combat and not really any explosions. There was a blend of evasion, shooting, and mixed-martial arts. One realistic thing about this movie is the number of bad guys the hero took on simultaneously. It wasn't like a Chuck Norris film where guys stand in a circle holding their guns and only attack one at a time. A Navy Seal could have reasonably handled the amount of assailants that came at this guy. If you're looking for a deeper storyline or character development, keep looking. But enjoy this movie for what it is...a lone hero saves the day. Kudos to the cast and crew for putting together a decent flick on a presumably low(er) budget.

What do you expect in an action movie?
josephgdeka22 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Was there ever a VanDamme, Seagal, or Schwartzneggar movie with a great plot? Face it, we only give 10's to dramas, don't we? Well, this was an action movie, and as such, it rates a 10. The directing was top notch (for an action movie) and the fight signs were great. If you are an MMA fan, and you like a little jiu-jitsu, then you'll love these sequences. The best part is you can actually see the fighting taking place, none of that "let's make you feel like you're there by bringing the camera too close and shaking it around while people fight" crap. You can actually see the martial arts in action, and it's good, solid, crisp stuff, very nice. I tell you, the directing was great as well. Everyone has a beef, and so did I, with two things. One, a remote/timer bomb in someones head (hey, its better than the "my wife and I are so happy, we're the perfect couple, someone killed her, now it's time for revenge" plot that fuels 99% of action movies.) Also, it's great to see North Korea as the bad guys. I mean, in real life, those guys are F@#@#$ nuts, so why aren't they in more movies? But really, having North Korean agents planted everywhere was a little ridiculous. Seriously though, as an action movie goes, 10/10. It was no Schindler's List, but for craps sake people, did you think it would be?

Action packed but lacking the important stuff
ddegonge88818 April 2013
This is a great movie if you're looking for some mindless edge of the seat action, but the rest of the movie wasn't all that great. The story-line was a bit fuzzy and acting ranged from decent to just bad. I know this wasn't meant to be the next Shooter but it still left me wishing for more. The action scenes were amazing however. The director did a great job with camera angles and sounds to help the viewer feel as if they were in the fight too. Those kinds of scenes literally got my heart pumping from the excitement, I just wish the plot in between was a little more developed and the actors did a little better at, well acting. Overall it is worth watching if you just feel like getting your heart going without watching a horror movie, but if you're looking for a mind-blowing plot I would skip it.

Not a bad action flick
cparmisan26 August 2017
It doesn't have the big production feel but it delivers 100% on it's billed genre. No time is wasted in giving an action packed story to the audience. The Shaky cam is a bit off putting initially but it quickly ties in to the fast pace of the movie. The cast is small but talented as will be appreciated in the fight scenes.Overall it isn't very flashy at all but if you are a fan of shows like The Unit and 24, you will definitely enjoy the film.
