What could have been
25 February 2011 | by (Australia) – See all my reviews

Satisfaction is the story of high class sex workers living in Melbourne and how they keep that life separate from their private one. A pretty original idea for an Australian series but does it work? Well I found myself interested in this show because as mentioned, their are not many like this in Australia. Like any male I was pleased to see full frontal female nudity within the first 5 minutes of the pilot episode. However I fear that this has become the selling point for most of my male counter parts.

For starters the script's are not very well written. The dialog is pretty terrible at times, often spouting out cliché lines that we have heard in many American movies between 2 couples, only it's between the client and the prostitute. Obstacles the characters face seemingly come out of no where with out provocation. The characters themselves don't have much depth, so some of the dialog exchanged does not come across as believable. The weirdos are the typical sexual deviants you would expect and the scenarios are nothing new. Every problem a character faces is pretty much predictable, as is the outcome.

The shows relies too much on nudity as a selling point. Just because you show full frontal make and female nudity does not make you unique or ground breaking. Everything in this show is pretty much taken from a number of different movies and television shows from the UK and the US. Some of the performances do require a good mention and the sets and costume design I also give the thumbs up to. However I found more things wrong with this show than right. The only thing that will give this show ratings is more naked women. However I did wish this show could have been given more room to grow, however that was blown in the 2nd season. Hopfully the next Australian drama can learn from this one.
