‘This Is Us’: Every Sylvester Stallone Scene Ranked By Its Inspirational Power

‘This Is Us’: Every Sylvester Stallone Scene Ranked By Its Inspirational Power
“People can be good” seems like an oddly basic concept to celebrate, but given current events, “This Is Us” delivered the message audiences needed most Tuesday night: People can be good, and sometimes those people are Sylvester Stallone.

In Episode 3, “Déjà Vu,” the most inspirational action star of all-time guest-starred on TV’s most inspirational series and, well, things got emotional. Stallone was invited to join the series by his “Rocky Balboa” co-star Milo Ventimiglia, who played Rocky Jr. in the 2006 film, so it was doubly fitting to learn that Jack was a die-hard Stallone fan in the series. Clever work, Dan Fogelman.

But how much of the good vibes came from Stallone’s presence and how much came from the writing? Did the presence of a three-time Oscar nominee distract from the series’ central storyline or enhance it? And most importantly, how did viewers feel after each one of Stallone’s scenes?

Variety Introduces ‘Synch This!’ — New Music Column Spotlighting Songs Ripe for Licensing

Variety Introduces ‘Synch This!’ — New Music Column Spotlighting Songs Ripe for Licensing
“Synch This” is a new Variety column written by Mac Presents VP and former Billboard branding reporter Andrew Hampp, highlighting new songs that we deem ripe for synch use. Insiders can skip over the “Synch 101” in the introduction, which will be linked to in future columns, to get straight to this week’s pick.

The term “synch” is a funny one – even if you’ve never heard it used before, it’s a convenient catch-all for something you hear every single day.

Short for “music synchronization license,” synchs have long been a prime method for music, new and old, to get discovered in TV commercials, box-office hits and the latest buzzy TV hit. So much so that synch revenue accounted for 2% of the recorded music industry’s global revenue in 2016, or roughly $314 million, an all-time high.

The first time I heard the term “synch” used it was in reference to

The new trailer has been unveiled for the eagerly anticipated drama My Cousin Rachel, as well as the film’s new poster – both of which you can view below!

Based on the acclaimed novel by Daphne du Maurier first published in 1951, the film stars Academy Award Winner Rachel Weisz in the title role alongside San Claflin, two of the busiest actors working today. Weisz has had a busy couple of years after a couple of years away, starring in The Light Between Oceans, The Lobster, Youth and Denial, which was released earlier this year. Claflin, meanwhile, has been involved in just as many with Me Before You, The Huntsman: Winter’s War and Their Finest, which is due for release later this month.

Rachel Weisz Casts a Dark Spell in My Cousin Rachel Trailer
Fox Searchlight Pictures has released the first trailer and poster for their upcoming thriller My Cousin Rachel, which stars Rachel Weisz as the title character and Sam Claflin as Philip Ashley. This film will mark the third time that the timeless original novel by Daphne Du Maurier will be adapted, with the first big-screen adaptation debuting in 1952, starring Olivia de Havilland as Rachel Ashley and Richard Burton as Philip Ashley. The novel was then adapted into a 1983 mini-series starring Geraldine Chaplin and Christopher Guard as Rachel and Philip.

My Cousin Rachel is a dark romance that tells the story of a young Englishman who plots revenge against his mysterious, beautiful cousin, believing that she murdered his guardian. But his feelings become complicated as he finds himself falling under the beguiling spell of her charms. The original novel was first published in 1951, and also spawned a few other types of adaptations.

First UK Poster & Trailer for My Cousin Rachel starring Rachel Weisz & Sam Claflin

Author: David Sztypuljak

With Denial in cinemas this week starring the fabulous Rachel Weisz as Professor Deborah E. Lipstadt it comes as no surprise that Fox Searchlight have released the first UK poster & trailer for My Cousin Rachel starring Weisz and her co-star Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games). For anyone unsure, this is most definitely not a sequel to the 1992 movie My Cousin Vinny starring Joe Pesci, Ralph Macchio and Marisa Tomei… as nice as that would be!

The movie is an adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s (author of Rebecca, The Birds) acclaimed novel of the same name and is helmed by Notting Hill / Morning Glory director Roger Michell.

Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman to star in New Line comedy Game Night

Rachel McAdams (Doctor Strange) is in negotiations to join Jason Bateman (Zootopia) in New Line Cinema’s upcoming Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley-directed comedy Game Night.

The project, which is being produced by Bateman and James Garavente through their production company Aggregate Films and John Davis and John Fox through Davis Entertainment, centers around “a group of couples who gather for their regularly planned game night when something goes murderously wrong.”

Bateman has been attached to the project for a few months now as a producer, but only recently signed on to star.

The film sounds like it could be a great ensemble comedy, and it surely will line up a talented cast in the weeks to come. Bateman is coming off of Office Christmas Party, which was largely panned by critics despite its adept ensemble, so hopefully Game Night delivers where that movie wasn’t able to.

Harrison Ford-ging ahead

Josh reporting on much Harrison Ford news. Ford has long since solidified himself as one of cinema’s most iconic megastars. Following the triple whammy of Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Blade Runner in the early 80’s, Harrison Ford received top billing for every film he was in until Morning Glory in 2010. That’s nearly 3 decades of leading man status. The last decade hasn’t been the series of hits he’s accustomed to with epic flops like Paranoia, Cowboys and Aliens, and Ender’s Game. Which is why we’re heading back to the 80’s and revisiting peak Ford.

The big news this week is he’s once again returning as Indiana Jones for the 5th time. If you’ve already ruined a legacy with an abysmal 4th film, why not just keep making money off it? He’ll be 77 by the time it hits our screen, and whilst

Comedic singer Rachel Bloom has been a familiar face on the internet for a number of years, garnering a reputation for unexpectedly oddball songs that work in both a comedic and musical context. Moving from a half-hour format to an hour-long series, the show is titled Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and stars Bloom in the lead role. Bloom co-created the series with The Devil Wears Prada and Morning Glory screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who is returning to tv for the first time since 1995. With the series set to make its debut later tonight, one of the songs from the show,

Rachel Weisz and Sam Claflin To Lead New Adaptation Of My Cousin Rachel

It has been sixty three years since Richard Burton and Olivia de Havilland starred in Henry Koster’s cinematic adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s 1951 novel, My Cousin Rachel. The classic noir mystery is now set for modernisation, however, with Sam Claflin and Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz taking the redefined lead roles, under the oversight of writer-director Roger Michell (Morning Glory, Hyde Park On The Hudson).

The story follows a young man’s descent into paranoia and confusion as he is stricken with grief at the loss of a beloved relative. When the widow, Rachel, arrives, he is torn between his growing love for her, and the belief that she could be a gold-digging femme fatale.

“Philip Ashley’s older cousin Ambrose, who raised the orphaned Philip as his own son, has died in Rome. Philip, the heir to the Ambrose’s beautiful English estate, is crushed that the

Paramount Extends J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Deal to 2018
Paramount Pictures and J.J. AbramsBad Robot Productions have extended their first-look deal for three years through July 2018.

Bad Robot and Paramount’s first-look partnership began in 2006. Since then, Bad Robot’s films for Paramount have included 2008’s “Cloverfield,” 2009’s “Star Trek,” 2010’s “Morning Glory,” 2011’s “Super 8,” 2011’s “Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol” and 2013’s “Star Trek: Into Darkness.”

“Ghost Protocol” was the top performer among the Bad Robot titles with nearly $700 million in global box office.

Bad Robot is currently shooting “Mission: Impossible V,” with Christopher McQuarrie directing and Tom Cruise returning in his starring role. Cruise is also producing the franchise film, co-financed by Skydance Productions and set for a July 31 release.
