Mostly Great...

Really wonderful lead characters. Good chemistry. Beautiful sets and costumes. But I'm not sure what happened toward the end. There were strange/ awkward cuts and edits during important scenes toward the end of the series. (Maybe they ran out of money? I'm not sure.)

The production crew actually acknowledges, in an apology to the audience at the end of the series, that the show had certain shortcomings. I appreciated this acknowledgment.

All that being said, it is worth watching. It's a beautiful love story. I would have easily given this a 9 if the show kept the same level of production from start to finish. Instead I ended up giving it a generous 8 - though 7.5 would be closer to the mark.

I really enjoyed the blooms at Ruyi pavilion! It's one of those shows that you can binge watch. It's not like I need an excuse because I really enjoy actors Ju Jing Yi and Zhang Zhe Han shows.

I personally wouldn't say this is was a typical historical Romance there is a lot of water that was added to this show but if you at least watch the series a couple of times you will really see the understory to this show. I would have liked to have seen a better ending for Xu Ping / Prince An (Liu Yi Chang) I get he had to play the half baddie but you can't help but to feel sorry for him.

I loved watching the little romance blossom between Wu Bai Qi - Little Marquis (Wang You Shuo) and Fu Xuan (Kiki Xu), I would love another season or a completely new drama just so we can find out what happened because they are so cute..

This drama is a love triangle add in your bumps in the road, and getting drunk and you're happy typical Friday night.

Definitely don't judge a book by its cover I would definitely give this drama a go.. This drama is one of my favorites and is in my top 10 list..

Messianic storyline from an Asian perspective

My wife and I really enjoyed the messianic storyline from an Asia perspective. Young, pure-hearted man and woman have to fight off the evil aunts, uncles, and brothers to save the nation - ultimately to be crowned as man and wife (Adam and Eve restored). Lovely costumes, respectful dating, lots of knowledge about the Asian value system, etc. As such it has parallels with Downton Abbey - where evil and goodness were found in both rich and poor, and men and women.

The filmmaking itself is more on the cute side than dramatic, but this leads to some very touching scenes where a touch of the hand brings out strong emotions of connection -. Far more romantic than the Western 'jump in the bed' dramas.

Takes some time, but, in the end, one is left with a desire to treat people in your life with more respect. Uplifting.

So many plots , twists and turns made it very interesting.. I just feel there could me more romantic moments between the lead couple.. to keep the audience connected with their love.
