The episodes are full of pop culture references from comics, graphic novels, Doctor Who, movies, TV shows, sports, even historical and current events. It's hard to catch all of them, but everyone will be able to find some that touch home.
Throughout this series, everything that can have a label ( such as candy, coffee and take away cups, ice cream, etc.) always bears the name "Fat Boy". We finally discover who this mysterious Corporation actually is in the final episode.
Every episode aired had the famous sound effect known as the Wilhelm Scream, which originates back to the 1950's. In the graphic novel for the unproduced 13th episode of what was to be the first season, the creator wrote in end page notes that for the unmade second season, the Wilhelm Scream would have been replaced with the Howie Scream in each episode.
Both the photo montage and the 1960s secret agent music in the opening is a nod to "The Avengers" where Mrs. Peel (Diana Riggs) and John Steed (Patrick MacNee) essentially do the same actions.
Throughout the series in each episode, Noser is always shown holding his guitar & frequently there is mention made of different games they play like "Stump the Band", "Name that Stanza", etc. But at no time do you ever see Noser either playing the guitar or singing.
