This was a high profile case in Memphis about FedEx pilot Michael Mullins, who in 1991 was charged with killing his wife Holly Fulton Mullins, also a FedEx pilot, shortly before their divorce hearing.

Prosecutors claimed Mullins beat his wife to death on her East Memphis doorstep on August 30, 1991. Her body was found a day later in her burned van in DeSoto County. The case made headlines for weeks.

The prosecution's case turned on circumstantial evidence and the testimony of one Carol Pinkerton -- a recovering alcoholic, drug user, the Mullins' nanny and Mike Mullins' lover.

The defense team argued that Pinkerton murdered the victim out of jealousy and told police that Mullins did it because he wouldn't agree to marry her.

After a seven-hour cross-examination of Pinkerton during which she cried, rambled, and wouldn't answer direct questions, Michael Mullins was acquitted in March 1994. Carol Pinkerton was granted immunity by the state for her testimony.

The biggest mistake was that the state used Pinkerton as their main defense to try to convict Mullins.

Holly Fulton Mullins is my brother-in-laws' sister. She is now buried in Kansas City Missouri. Her father who is now deceased was never allowed to see his 3 grandchildren after Holly died. My brother-in-law has never seen them either.

Mike Mullins basically got away with capital murder and he now owns a local skydiving company.
