Was pretty good

Warning: Spoilers
This new teenage lifetime flick was pretty good. Wasn't as thrilling as I hoped, but I enjoyed it. The cheerleader coach played a pretty good and twisted villain as well. The end fight scene was a little brief though, but ended with the villain being taken into custody.

Too many things not making sense

The film was okay but left so many unanswered questions. There was just a lot that wasn't realistic. The police didn't bother investigating the deaths of Ethan and mother's best friend. To say that the woman died of accidental drowning before forensics looked was silly. And nothing ever came of the steroid pushing coach who threatened the head teacher in front of people on school. What was the point in adding the business guy character with the eccentric office? He played no part in the story but he appeared a lot. And it was shocking that really didn't add up.

Not the best, but not the worst...

I love LMN cheer movies, but let's be honest - some are better than others! this one falls sorta in the middle for me.. i think it's the semi-ridiculous storyline that drags it down more than anything else. (I'll have to research whether this might be inspired by real events - it shocks me to learn that sooo many of the LMN movies ARE based on true stories, especially the most implausible ones!)

A few new fresh faces lend a lift to the acting here, which for me, honestly saves the *ugh-ish* plot... LOL

if you enjoy Lifetime cheer genre movies with a whodunit twist, it's still good fun, so DO add it to your list, just maybe not as a TOP must-see priority haha :)

Warning: Spoilers
This was probably my second least favorite movie out of all of the movies from the "fear the cheer" movie event (the first being the wrong cheerleader coach). Anyways, everything about this movie was not good. The acting, writing, directing, and plot line. Let's start off with the acting. The acting felt so forced, especially Nina's. At times you could totally tell they were acting. And can I talk about the writing? It's even worse than the acting, there's not much to say about it. The main character Amelie kept acting bitchy throughout the entire movie, and it just made it unwatchable. At least Kelly, the mom, was more likable, but that doesn't mean her acting was a bit better than everyone else's. There were also a few plot holes here and there, such as how Nina easily got away with murdering three people. She killed her coach by running him over with her car in broad daylight, while there were people watching. The people witnessing the murder would've called the police, and Nina would've been arrested. Also how did Ethan just suddenly die in the middle of the road? And how come there was no investigation regarding his death? and lastly what happened to the drug dealers body after Nina killed him in his car, he just seemed to disappear into thin air after his murder and was never mentioned or seen again. It's clear at this point that lifetime is getting a bit lazy, and is running out of ideas. Please skip this one!

Dumb movie

Very dumb movie and horrible acting. I'd give it a zero if I could. Probably one of the worst Lifetime movies made.

Amelie is a dumb name by the way.

Warning: Spoilers
The motto for Brookville South High School is the bobcats. But the true creature that fits that description is the cheerleading coach, Nina Sednak. Coach Nina will stop at nothing to take her girls all the way to a national championship. But her tactics are not only devious, but those of a nefarious predator.

Amelie Regan is an Amazon of a girl, dwarfing the other cheerleaders. Amelie has her sights set on becoming captain, and she falls prey to the machinations of Coach Nina. The coach believes that feeding her girls steroids will enhance their chances to get the nationals. She has become skilled at purchasing and mixing the illegal drugs herself.

Coach Nina is haunted by her past as a young cheerleader who was abused by her own coach who not only hooked her on steroids, but got her pregnant. Nina had an accident, broke her arm, and lost the baby. She could never forgive her coach who was a married man who eventually dumped her. As a result, Nina ran him over with her car.

There is significant collateral damage in the film when Coach Nina murders her drug dealer who was attempting to squeeze her with exorbitant prices. Another victim was Ethan, a high school athlete who sampled some of Nina's drugs and died of an apparent heart attack. She also murdered Nat, the kind assistant of Amelia's mother Kelly. Nat caught Nina sneaking out of the Scotts' home where she stole Kelly's championship cheerleading ring. As a result, Nat paid the ultimate price in the Scotts' swimming pool.

The filmmakers were successful in handling a wide range of characters, and the film was well-paced with plenty of character interactions. Two of the most intriguing were Amelie's parents, Kelly and Scott Regan. The parents intuitively recognized that something was seriously wrong with the coach. The school principal, Lamar, is no help because he is having an affair with Coach Nina. As a result, the parents must take things into their own hands.

There was an especially clever denouement in which there is a shake-up in the school staff. The principal is replaced by a kind woman who in turn hires a new cheerleading coach with stellar credentials in having made it to the national finals. Our young Amazon will now be in good hands with a familiar, loving face, who will be her new mentor.

AMELIE!!!!
ladietee-1567417 August 2022
I could not stand watching this movie. The amount of times the mother screamed her daughters name *Amelie* drove me INSANE.

Half this script is her repeating her daughter's name over and over. Amelie, Amelie.. AMELIE!!

Couldn't finish this.

Warning: Spoilers
Wow, so she got away with murder twice? What a joke of a movie.

She literally floors it and hits the guy, and you can see people in the background not even caring.

I don't know, something about the cheer movies really put me off. They're my least favorite on Lifetime and this one just shows why. I think it's because they usually have 25+ years old trying to play teens and combine that with the camp, and it's too much. Speaking of camp:

"DIE! DIE!"

"This ring is MINE!"

"It's your baby!"

Three lines from the climax just really had me rolling. The movie is terrible for sure, but I couldn't help but laugh at this.

The movie makes light of Nina being a murderer which is never appreciated, and she gets probation for assault. Um, what? Maybe if you looked into the obvious foul play of the drowning it might lead you to investigate.

A bad movie with an even worse ending is not a good combo.

Warning: Spoilers
Amelie wants to be Captain of her high school cheer squad but doesn't feel she has the strength to do the lifts. Enter Coach Nina, who is a nutjob that takes a special interest in her and wants to help her along by giving her steroids. One of Amelie's high schoolers ends up dead. Amelie's mother, Kelly, was a star cheerleader as well and she senses Amelie is off and on edge. As she starts digging, her business partner ends up dead and Kelly may be next. This was a very good movie, well-written and acted with a strong script. Anita Brown was excellent as the baddie. Strongly recommend this one.....

huge plot holes

Warning: Spoilers
I am sorry but unless you are going to state that the movie is about the past you have to write it how it would happen in the present or it is a horribly written story.

The cops would have been all over the football coach trying to find out how he got the steroids and everyone in the school would have known about it by the end of the day that he died from steroids and not a car accident. Even if his girlfriend still didn't tell them that the drugs came from her coach at that time she would have definitely told the cops where the drugs came from when she got kicked off the team. The assistant would have told the mom about the drugs, if you are going to try and convince us that she would not have then you would have needed to write in scenes with her being friends with the daughter to where she would have possibly done something as stupid as that. Even if it plays out the way they wrote it, the kid is told it is steroids and she just ignores it like she told her it was candy. Kids now of days would freak out that steroids went into her body she would have been pissed off at her coach. That whole thing doesn't make sense unless you are going to tell us this movie is about the 80s when no one knew what steroids were.

At the end the cops just come and take her away and the family leaves. They are just psychic and know to arrest her and let the family go without even talking to them, that is just lazy writing.
