Warner Bros. Pictures has released a second trailer for the upcoming drama The Accountant.

Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town Cpa office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations.

With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.

The film also stars Jon Bernthal (“Fury,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”), Jean Smart (TV’s “Fargo,” “24”), and Cynthia Addai-Robinson (“Star Trek: Into Darkness”), with Jeffrey Tambor (TV’s “Transparent,” “The Hangover” films »

Bad Moms review – bawdy matriarchs stick it to the PTA

Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn and Kristen Bell shine in this lewd but safe comedy from the writers of The Hangover that sees what happens when stressed-out mothers cut loose

Let us take a moment to give thanks to whichever deity watches over cinema for the gift of Kathryn Hahn. Ms Hahn, known more from television shows like Parks and Recreation and Transparent has popped up in comedies like Anchorman and Wanderlust as well as strong but esoteric indies like Afternoon Delight. We’ve already counted on her to take whatever she’s in and make it better. But with Carla, the baddest of the bad moms in Jon Lucas and Scott Moore’s new raunchy comedy Hahn delivers a performance that secures her position as one of the most electrifying performers on the scene today. Like a mix of Sandra Bernhard and John Belushi, Hahn’s Carla is a foul-mouthed force of nature, »

‘Bad Moms’ Review: Come For The Raunchy Jokes, Stay For Kathryn Hahn’s Comedic Breakout

10 hours ago | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Amy Mitchell (Mila Kunis) is not a bad mom. Yes, she’s stretched too thin and she’s always late and and she’s a very bad driver, but she also clearly loves her children and is willing to do absolutely anything for them. In the world of “Bad Moms,” however, that’s simply not enough. Imagine “Mean Girls” for the soccer mom set, and you’ve got some idea of the horrors that await Amy every time she drops off her two kids at McKinley Middle School, an institution ruled by the iron fist of PTA president Gwendolyn James (Christina Applegate).

Jon Lucas and Scott Moore’s film — the co-writers of “The Hangover,” and the pedigree is obvious — picks up with Amy during a very bad time in her life. Her kids think she’s square, her husband has spent the past ten months engaged in an online affair; she has zero friends, »

Film Review: Bad Moms

10 hours ago | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Mila Kunis faces down Christina Applegate in the latest movie by The Hangover writers Jon Lucas & Scott Moore, Bad Moms. And, when she does, its millennials vs. Gen-Xers, helicopter moms vs. hands-off moms, old women vs. young. Not in a good way.

Kunis is Amy Mitchell, a 32-years young parent that is overworked, overstressed, and under appreciated. She slaves over meals for her kids, rushes them to school, drives them to Mandarin lessons, all while working a thankless part-time job. Worse: all while her failure-to-launch husband pleasures himself to videos of an excessively bushy online girlfriend. But the camel’s back breaks when Amy is shown up by an evil, older woman (Applegate’s Gwendolyn) with intense views on childrearing and a tyrannical mean streak at their kids’ school.

It’s hard to tell if screenwriters and directors Lucas & Moore have little respect for the women of the upcoming generation »

Box Office: ‘Jason Bourne’ Targets $50 Million Debut, ‘Bad Moms’ Looks Like Sleeper Hit

26 July 2016 2:27 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

The posters state authoritatively, “you know his name.” And then there’s Matt Damon, half of his all-American visage cloaked in shadow, back in the role that solidified his place on Hollywood’s A-list.

Still, it’s been nearly a decade since Jason Bourne unpacked Treadstone and slowly pieced together the parts of a life story that a nasty case of amnesia wiped away. The promotional campaign aside, audiences could be forgiven if it takes them a minute to recall the Bourne moniker. Though Damon has left the butt-kicking to others, the influence of the Bourne movies and their handheld intensity remains omnipresent, helping to shape the action sequences in everything from the latest James Bond films to “Captain America: The Winter Solider.” But will audiences, increasingly fixated on comic book movies, still have a place in their hearts for one of cinema’s most durable super spies?

Did ‘Ghostbusters’ Open at the Box Office? Or Disappoint?

18 July 2016 5:31 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Read the reports on the weekend box office and you might wind up scratching your head about the performance of Sony’s female “Ghostbusters” reboot.

Did it “fail” to unseat “The Secret Life of Pets” in first place? Yes. But opening at number one doesn’t necessarily guarantee a hit.

Was it strong enough to jump-start a long-dormant possible franchise? Sony is weaker in franchise depth than other studios and needed this Amy Pascal-produced flick to thrive. According to distribution chief Rory Bruer, the likelihood of a sequel is strong.

Box office success is measured by cost vs. return, expectations vs. reality, and last year’s record numbers vs. a weak summer 2016. Few summer 2016 releases grabbed more advance attention. During this feast-or-famine season, the mid-range initial “Ghostbusters” performance is far from great, but mainly positive. Word of mouth could drive more attendance.

Will Arnett discusses The Lego Batman Movie

18 July 2016 6:10 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Having lent his voice to the character in The Lego Movie, Will Arnett is set to reprise his role as The Caped Crusader in next year’s spinoff The Lego Batman Movie, and the actor has been chatting to Entertainment Weekly about the film ahead of its upcoming panel at San Diego Comic-Con this week.

“What came out of The Lego Movie was the idea of, Batman’s the Dark Knight, so why is he so moody? What’s going on? Why is he so banged up? And wouldn’t it be fun to get in there and explore that?” states Arnett. “[Exploring Batman’s moodiness] was always the intention, but as you record a few sessions and you get on these tangents, you end up taking the entire story down a road that wasn’t necessarily the intended road. It can totally drastically change the narrative just through goofing around… Sometimes what’s »

Weekend Box Office Top 10 Takeaways: ‘Ghostbusters’ Makes Mid-Range Landing

17 July 2016 2:20 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Few summer 2016 releases have grabbed more advance attention that Sony’s female “Ghostbusters” reboot. During this feast-or-famine summer, its modest initial performance is far from great, but mainly positive.

For one thing, “Ghostbusters” failed to unseat top-grossing animated film “The Secret Life of Pets” as #1. The superlatives for the animated family genre continue unabated.

The weekend brought few new releases, another reason grosses fell short of the same weekend last summer.

But more strong openers are coming, including “Star Trek Beyond” and “Suicide Squad” is guaranteed to soar). But the ongoing uncertainty continues.

15 years ago today: ‘Legally Blonde’ opened in theaters

15 years ago today, Elle Woods taught us to bend and snap. Legally Blonde hit theaters on July 13, 2001, giving Reese Witherspoon her breakout role and giving us a movie that put a pink-loving sorority girl in the place where she’s the outcast: law school. Until she proves all her doubters wrong, that is, in the midst of a murder trial, no less. The comedy’s success led to a 2003 sequel and a stage musical that premiered on Broadway in 2007. Alton Sterling and Philando Castile: These Are the Documentaries We Need to See

7 July 2016 11:35 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Before you see anything, you hear the sound, the sharp pop as a Baton Rouge police officer fires a Taser into Alton Sterling’s body. If this were a movie, Sterling would be instantly incapacitated and drop to the ground. Maybe he’d go stiff and topple backward, like Jonah Hill in “22 Jump Street,” or his eyes would bug out like Zach Galifanakis’ did in “The Hangover,” but he’d be down, and fundamentally unharmed.

That’s not what happened, as anyone who’s watched the video of Sterling’s killing knows. It’s graphic and disturbing enough that I’m not linking to it, but it’s easy to find. So is the footage captured by Diamond Reynolds after an officer in Falcon Heights, Minnesota fatally shot her boyfriend, Philando Castile.
