I'm not a fan of reality TV; in fact I think most Reality TV is vacuous and as dull as the celebrities who usually star in them. Despite this I thought Turn Back Your Body Clock was decent 'filler' television. Each week a different member of public is medically assessed by Dr. Una Coales and given a life expectancy age. They must then turn back their body clock by exercising, changing their diet and cutting out anything that may affect their health. Dr. Una Coales is a good presenter for the programme; sometimes harsh but not as spiteful as Gillian McKeith. Tim Bean is a health expert who organises an exercise/sport regime for each person. Like many other reality shows a different person features each week, they are the star of the show (sort of). Each episode is only as interesting as the person featured. My favourite episode features a cocaine using, binge drinking, sports fan. He is secretly filmed drinking and doing a stupid dance. When he is shown this footage he says, "what a nob".
Summary: Turn Back Your Body Clock is occasionally interesting, well made and viewers may actually pick-up some useful health tips. I prefer it over many realty shows of a similar ilk but it is not great television but it is an enjoyable way to waste 30 minutes. Turn Back Your Body Clock only ran for 8 episodes and 1 series; it was never as popular as many other Channel 4 reality shows, for whatever reason. If you are a fan of reality TV you may want to seek out a copy though.
