Storyline

Maddie Tyler, a special friend and playmate of Kelly, Gibbs's daughter, asks for help with an unwanted suitor, Rudi, a Marine sergeant, who has begun stalking her. Gibbs gives him the word; soon Maddie calls Gibbs and says that Rudi has returned; someone trashes Maddie's pad and takes her in Rudi's SUV. The gang find the tortured body of Rudi, who had died before the abduction of Maddie. They find a suspect, who calls the Pentagon. Gibbs leaves the office with his piece but not his badge; he's figured it out, so he sets into action; he attends a meeting and picks up Maddie; the two of them escape, but Gibbs makes a miscalculation. Tony, nearby, helps, so everything works out. Written by DocRushing

Trivia

One of the most impressive sequences were the scenes taking place at the dock in which Michael Weatherly (DiNozzo) rescues Gibbs and Tyler by diving off the dock, chasing their car to its potentially underwater grave, smashing the windshield, and pulling both to the surface. The scenes were filmed in two separate locations; the dock was filmed on location in San Pedro, the port district of Los Angeles, California, while the underwater scenes were filmed at a tank in the San Fernando Valley. While shooting in San Pedro, Michael Weatherly was allowed to run up to the water, but a stunt man later stood in to perform the dive. The underwater sequences took two days to film. The crew noted that water was one of the most difficult environments to shoot in, as it changed the light focus, and communication proved difficult. Before shooting took place, the cast and crew present followed the storyboards of the sequence. The water was also dyed to look murky. The filming crew also noted that Harmon did not hesitate to perform underwater. Body doubles were on hand, but the producers were so impressed by how Harmon acted in pretending to be trapped in the car by the broken steering wheel, and then played dead, they felt a double was not needed, as they believed no one could create a stronger performance. Quotes

Maddie Tylor: [showing Gibbs an old photo of her and Kelly] Can't remember who took that photo.
[Flashback to Kelly and Maddie giggling about something]
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: [smiling] I did. I never did find out what was so funny.
Maddie Tylor: She never told you? Sorry.
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I shipped out to Iraq that month. They followed me all the way to Pendleton. Last time I saw them.
Maddie Tylor: It was a time capsule. We, uh, filled this toy suitcase with all of our... treasures. Kelly's mostly, and... buried it in your backyard. We were sitting on it.
[Gibbs laughs]

Gibbs, what a character
14 December 2016 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs has evaded death a countless number of times before and during his time as an NCIS investigator and this could've been his time to go. In this excellent episode his daughter's best friend asks for help because of her stalker boyfriend is giving her a hard time. This quickly turns into an intense money laundering story. There was a lot of action in this episode from the first 2 minutes to the very end. The action is really awesome and when DiNozzo saves Gibbs: what a scene. This episode does have quite a bit of humour but that's obviously not the main theme of the episode. Gibbs goes against his own rule in this episode: rule #10: Never get personally involved in a case, but here it's understandable because we can see he really wants to save Maddie because he sees it as a second chance since he sees her as his daughter. There is incredible character development for Gibbs in this episode. Gibbs sees Maddie as the daughter he never had the chance to save and the best part of the episode is the ending where he puts Abby's picture of him and Maddie beside the picture of him and Kelly. All in all, Requiem is an excellent iconic episode.
