Storyline

Maddie Tyler, a special friend and playmate of Kelly, Gibbs's daughter, asks for help with an unwanted suitor, Rudi, a Marine sergeant, who has begun stalking her. Gibbs gives him the word; soon Maddie calls Gibbs and says that Rudi has returned; someone trashes Maddie's pad and takes her in Rudi's SUV. The gang find the tortured body of Rudi, who had died before the abduction of Maddie. They find a suspect, who calls the Pentagon. Gibbs leaves the office with his piece but not his badge; he's figured it out, so he sets into action; he attends a meeting and picks up Maddie; the two of them escape, but Gibbs makes a miscalculation. Tony, nearby, helps, so everything works out. Written by DocRushing

Trivia

One of the most impressive sequences were the scenes taking place at the dock in which Michael Weatherly (DiNozzo) rescues Gibbs and Tyler by diving off the dock, chasing their car to its potentially underwater grave, smashing the windshield, and pulling both to the surface. The scenes were filmed in two separate locations; the dock was filmed on location in San Pedro, the port district of Los Angeles, California, while the underwater scenes were filmed at a tank in the San Fernando Valley. While shooting in San Pedro, Michael Weatherly was allowed to run up to the water, but a stunt man later stood in to perform the dive. The underwater sequences took two days to film. The crew noted that water was one of the most difficult environments to shoot in, as it changed the light focus, and communication proved difficult. Before shooting took place, the cast and crew present followed the storyboards of the sequence. The water was also dyed to look murky. The filming crew also noted that Harmon did not hesitate to perform underwater. Body doubles were on hand, but the producers were so impressed by how Harmon acted in pretending to be trapped in the car by the broken steering wheel, and then played dead, they felt a double was not needed, as they believed no one could create a stronger performance. Maddie Tyler rescue
4 October 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

You can debate through all of the episodes of NCIS as to which episode is better but for me to see a reminder to Gibbs of the past and to what might have been the future was the most poignant episode I've watched. To see the picture Abby took of the two of them and the great lengths he went to rescue her. And to finally fill in some blanks for Ducky and Inspector Shepard. And finally knowing as always throughout it all as always Tony had his Six. The ending would make the most devoted of viewers and casual ones as well cry, and to think there was more to come since this was just season 5. Subsequent story lines and plot twists shows why this show has stayed relevant for all of these years, but for me personally I look forward to any marathon days hoping that I would see this episode. And the funniest thing I take from that story was how Gibbs was candid enough to tell Maddie that Kelly would probably be like her, but yet he could not take her coffee. The only time MySpace seemed relevant.
