Reign of terror

Good episode in terms of storyline progression and acting. It's pretty wild that this is based on a true story, it seems unbelievable that so many travelers could be tricked.

[8.2] Until it was far too late and costly

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 4: The cycle repeats itself this time in Nepal. Some really far-fetched exploit by Nadine, so lucky that she got away with it without "bruise". Charles the nasty mischief suspects a thing? Nothing! - Monique looking hypnotized already for months, as if her soul has melted in Charles' cobra-like eyes. Superb acting or is it?

Sometimes it seems as if she has transcended herself and has found a long lasting "harmful" connection with Charles, extending well beyond the limits of the camera. It especially shows itself in this episode. She is drowned in him and the fear that she was feeling a while ago evaporated and has turned into ecstatic food.

Back then, traveling was way easy, the minds too naive and trickeries mostly well played and hidden until it was far too late and costly.

Warning: Spoilers
The Serpent seems to have found its footing now.

The thriller element is will Sobhraj find out that someone close to them is investigating them.

That someone is Nadine and she goes around with a camera trying to get evidence for Knippenberg.

With his ill gotten gains. Sobhraj, Marie-Andrée and Ajay go on holiday to Nepal.

Sobhraj promptly gambles away the money at a card game in the swanky hotel he is staying in. Unfortunately Ajay has to make do with a cheaper place.

Marie-Andrée is livid that Sobhraj has got rid off their money so easily. Maybe Sobhraj does not appreciate just how many people died for him to have that money.

With the hotel manager on Sobhraj's back over the hotel bill. It is Marie-Andrée who provides the solution when she sees a hippie couple with a couple of rubies.

It is back to business and murder.

The flipping of time moving forwards and backwards is still present. The change of location to Nepal is welcome and is noticeable that the show maintains a drugged filled haziness of the era.

Sobhraj could had been caught but a witness is unsure if she saw him leaving with an American couple who have gone missing.
