Storyline

The crew have now set off to finish what as left over from Jackass 2.0, and in this version they have Wee Man use a 'pee' gun on themselves, having a mini motor bike fracas in the grocery mall, a sperm test, a portly crew member disguised as King Kong, as well as include three episodes of their hilarious adventures in India, namely drinking beer off of Shridhar Chillai's several feet long fingernails; having one of the crew lie on a bed of nails with two snakes - one on his chest and one between the legs, as well as a decorated elephant in the background; and finally having a half-naked Indian Sadhu drink one of the crew's urine. Unfunny extras and outtakes and not worth your money - 37%
1 April 2008 | by (Hampshire, England) – See all my reviews

It was always going to happen. The seduction of money and fame proved too much for the Jackass crew to resist, despite Johnny Knoxville's feeble attempts to leave the show behind. After the inevitable sequel arrived, I can only assume that this straight-to-DVD release is there purely to whet the appetite for the forthcoming "Jackass 3" and also to line the pockets of Knoxville, Margera and the rest by humiliating themselves further. Having not seen "Jackass 2" yet, I wasn't aware that this was little more than a collection of clips that didn't make it. And if I had, I might have been a little more reluctant to part with my money.

If you're unfamiliar with the format, "Jackass 2.5" follows the exact same formula as the TV show - a haggard bunch of skaters, stuntman and naked idiots film themselves as they put themselves through insane scenarios that defy any sort of explanation. So if the idea of a group of young men riding mini scooters through a grocers and causing all sorts of vehicular and bodily harm appeals to you (and Heaven knows, it might) then this is an essential purchase. But this is unlikely to appeal to non-fans of Jackass as it offers nothing but a relentless barrage of swearing, barely censored male nudity, an unhealthy obsession with inserting things up the ass and interviews with the cast between the various skits.

Knowing what I know now, I really wouldn't have bothered. This could easily have been a bonus disc with either the second movie or both movies together (which I now can't find anywhere). And because it's basically a cut-and-paste job, the whole thing feels like the last few dollars bring squeezed out of this particular cash-cow. A couple of scenes also make you feel uncomfortable but especially those in India. It just felt like these people were being exploited or mocked such as Shridhar Chillal and his fifty-year-old fingernails being used by Steve-O to drink beer from. Having said that, there are definitely moments that border on genius such as Preston Lacy's impression of King Kong atop a portable toilet but these are few and far between. The problem with Jackass has always been that it is uneven - what makes you laugh one minute will make you puke the next, assuming you react to it at all. And this is the ultimate problem here - these are clips that weren't good enough to be in a "proper" Jackass movie so you can imagine the overall quality. Take my advice and stick with the first movie - not only is it much funnier but it also avoids feeling like a sell-out which was exactly what came to mind when I found out the second movie was in production. Or if you have to laugh at home movies and people falling over and hurting themselves then watch "You've Been Framed" or some other home-movie howler show.
