Spider-Man Musical Accidents, Brittany Murphy And Winter Weather In Today's Twitter-Wood

21 December 2010 2:03 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Accidents abounded today as news of a mishap at the Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" spread and winter weather caused some mayhem. Tom Felton, for instance, has been having a bad run of driving luck, but it does sound like he's okay.

Yesterday marked a sad anniversary, too, as Rose McGowan noted that it's been one year since Brittany Murphy's death. Her thoughts, as well as a shot of one of our favorite "Twilight" series actresses lending a hand at a Phoenix food bank, have been retweeted after the jump.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is Twitter-Wood for December 21, 2010.

Cholera In Haiti, 'Skyline' And 'Scream' In Today's Twitter-Wood

15 November 2010 1:53 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Now that a cholera epidemic has reached Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, and the death toll is climbing toward 1,000, the worsening situation has become a recurring topic of conversation in our Twitter feed. Danny DeVito was searching around for something to do to help yesterday, while Olivia Wilde shared a picture from a Haitian pediatric hospital where she's been hanging out.

In movie-related posts, "Skyline" prompted a few micro-reviews over the weekend. Sasha Grey broke her spectrum of reactions down into a single tweet and may have managed to break a Twitter-Wood record for most sentences in a single post. Check it out after the jump and see if you share her sentiments. Even if you don't, you'll see what Eli Roth received for participating in a "Scream" documentary and what Marlon Wayans recommends for the Minnesota Vikings.

Doug Benson’s The Benson Interruption Premieres on Comedy Central November 5th

3 November 2010 11:07 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

You may have seen comedian Doug Benson on one of his stand-up specials on Comedy Central or in his Super Size Me inspired documentary Super High Me which replaces McDonald’s food with marijuana. Whether you’re a fan of his work, or you’ve never heard of the comedian before, it’s a pretty damn good idea to tune into Benson’s new stand-up show The Benson Interruption when it premieres on November 5th at Midnight on Comedy Central. Technically that’s actually November 6th, but since that’s also 11pm Central Time, we’ll just let it slide.

The show features several stand-up comedians running through a normal set of jokes, but host Doug Benson pretty much just interrupts them whenever he wants to with questions, thoughts, strange tangents and whatever the weed he smoked five minutes before the show makes him think off the top of his head. »

'GQ' 'Glee' Photos, Van Damme's Heart Attack Denial And Superman In Today's Twitter-Wood

21 October 2010 1:15 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Some "Glee" cast members made a big splash this week on the Internet and with Doug Benson, thanks to a GQ photo shoot. Other pics of note in the feed showed off meetings between Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron, Seth Green and Jar Jar Binks, and Ludacris with a motorcycle.

Elsewhere, Rose McGowan chastised Omar Doom for his Blu-ray watching choices, while Damon Lindelof assessed Jean-Claude Van Damme's heart attack denial and Rich Sommer backed one of his "Mad Men" co-stars to play Superman. Their tweets all appear after the jump, along with a backstage view of Broken Social Scene.

Cash Crop

Cash Crop

Directed by: Adam Ross

Cast: Sefton

Running Time: 1 hr 25 mins

Rating: Unrated

Release Date: October 15, 2010 (limited)

Plot: Documents cannabis growers up and down the Emerald Triangle, an area in California famous for marijuana production.

Who’S It For? Teenagers and adults interested in the topic of marijuana legalization.  While they’re sober.

Expectations: Most of what I know about the pot growers comes from the news and blog posts.  I kind of expected it to be along the lines of Food, Inc or The Cove.  I also thought it would be pro-marijuana legalization.

Scorecard (0-10)

Actors:

Sefton as himself: Most of the people who appear in the film are only identified by a title, such as “Business Owner” or “Cannabis Farmer.”  Sefton is one of the only people identified by name, and it’s only his first name at that.  But I also list him because he’s »

Greg Giraldo, Tony Curtis, And Frankie Muniz Vs. Shia Labeouf In Today's Twitter-Wood

30 September 2010 1:27 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Frankie Muniz was not amused today about a statement from Shia Labeouf in which the "Wall Street 2" star said that many of his films could have swapped Muniz into his roles and still been hits. It was an odd comment, but Muniz cleared the air with his own thoughts on the matter.

In other tweets, the deaths of Greg Giraldo and Tony Curtis put dampers on a lot of moods. Steve Martin, James Gunn and others contributed to the collective obituaries for the comedian and actor, though Gunn's memories may be pretty unique in the scheme of things. Find out why after the jump along with one volunteer to take Rahm Emanuel's seat in the White House and why Chloe Moretz had to do some trapeze training.

Bill Murray's Birthday, The New 'Hawaii Five-0' And Bristol Palin In Today's Twitter-Wood

22 September 2010 7:02 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Someone finally stood up in Twitter-Wood Tuesday to counter Brett Ratner's rave reviews of "Catfish." You'll have to read on down to find out who it was, but the Monday-Tuesday window in our feed turned out to be a popular one for the critics to show up.

The first episode of the new "Hawaii Five-0" series caught some attention and at least one comparison to "Con Air," while Bristol Palin had fellow flyers clamoring to watch "Dancing With the Stars" at the airport where Patton Oswalt was hanging out. Check out what he thought about that, who wished Bill Murray a happy birthday and who's been getting prepped in case they ever make a Shake Weight movie after the jump.

Paris Hilton, 'Catfish' Reactions And The 'Community' Halloween Episode In Today's Twitter-Wood

21 September 2010 7:03 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Brett Ratner hasn't been quiet in the past about his enthusiasm for the new film "Catfish," but you probably didn't know how many times he's watched it. I won't tell you whether to believe him or not but you can find out what he claimed yesterday on his Twitter account.

In other topics, Paris Hilton made this news this morning after reaching a plea deal in her Las Vegas cocaine case. Brian Lynch identified who he thinks the lucky ones are in the whole story. His explanation, as well as 50 Cent's story of why he named his dog Oprah Winfrey and some hints about the upcoming Halloween episode of "Community" await you below.

Be warned, there was some adult content in the Twitter-Wood feed today. As they appear below, Michael Ian Black's feelings about oatmeal and Russell Brand's interaction with Elmo have been made safe for work, but I can't promise anything after you've clicked on through to their Twitter pages.

The big-news topics of discussion today were of course Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston's break-up redux and A-Rod's new home run benchmark, though, and those reactions have not been left out. Find out who you agree with and why Patton Oswalt wants to see "The Expendables" after the jump.

Doc Talk: 'Super Size Me,' Super High Me' and 'No Impact Man'

22 July 2010 5:50 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

I've got a great idea for a documentary. I will attempt to go a full year without wearing pants, as a film crew follows me and my goal and presents just how difficult such a wardrobe restriction makes my everyday life. Not interested? Is it because you know my blogging profession would not make it so hard to go 365 days without bottoms or because the task is not tied to some greater protest or cause? Probably a little of both, plus the fact that you'd have no interest in seeing a feature film of just me walking around pantsless.

But what other sort of restrictions or obstructions are there worth centering a documentary around? Something that's not just a stunt but also a form of activism, be it focused on Americans' health, the legality of drugs, being more environmentally conscious or some other such effort that could make a difference »

Oil Spills, Disabled Facebook Accounts And New iPhones In Today's Twitter-Wood

8 June 2010 1:21 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Have you been having Facebook problems lately? Lindsay Lohan has, judging from her recently tweeted frustrations. She says she's lost her original account and name, all due to some shenanigans pulled by a hacker.

The biggest shenanigan in the Gulf of Mexico is still on tweeters minds elsewhere in Twitter-Wood. Rainn Wilson was inspired by President Barack Obama's "kick ass" comments today, and Stephen Colbert has been pontificating as usual. You can decide which of them knows what he's talking about below alongside Wil Wheaton's kick-ass Tardis cake and a look at Gary Sinise playing guitar at Uso show.

Sam Rockwell's Hands In 'Iron Man 2,' Cannes And Lady Gaga In Today's Twitter-Wood

11 May 2010 1:52 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Last week, Jon Favreau addressed "The Wilhelm Scream" in "Iron Man 2," and this week he's been getting inquiries about the color of Sam Rockwell's hands in the film. After reading Twitter today, I think I'm going to have to go back and decide how orange they are for myself.

In other tweets, much of Twitter-Wood is getting set for the Cannes Film Festival this week. Brett Ratner and Paris Hilton both had some prep work to do today, and I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of other related posts over the next couple of weeks. You can find out what they've got planned after the jump. There, you'll find Gary Sinise, Jim Carrey and Frankie Muniz's thoughts on Lady Gaga, as they all appear in Twitter-Wood for May 11, 2010.

'Last Airbender' Re-Shoots, 'Lost' Vs. 'Glee' And Chloe Moretz In 'Kick-Ass' In Today's Twitter-Wood

14 April 2010 1:50 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

"The Last Airbender" gained at least one new actor in its final days of re-shoots, according to the tweets of Aasif Mandvi. He didn't indicate whether or not the last-minute casting was for a major part, but it sounds like everyone had a good time.

Many more Twitter-Wood citizens had a grand time at the "Kick-Ass" premiere last night, and several big-name attendees were particularly impressed with Hit-Girl actress Chloe Moretz. Eli Roth and Nathan Fillion were two of them. In other posts, Damon Lindelof did his best to sell "Glee" watchers on "Lost," Randy Newman's "Toy Story 3" scoring wrapped and David Wain went to the dentist. Ice-t Vs. Aimee Mann, Robert Pattinson As Kurt Cobain And Hugh Hefner's Birthday In Today's Twitter-Wood

9 April 2010 1:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Words of war and peace were had between Ice-t and Aimee Mann over the last 24 hours. In an exchange unlike any other I've seen since I started writing Twitter-Wood, the singer/songwriter (and "Big Lebowski" actress) questioned Ice's acting abilities in a tweet she probably would have preferred to leave private. Ice-t caught wind, though, because as most Tw followers know, he as a small army in the Twitterverse.

In other posts, Roger Ebert earned my vote for Twitter Pic of the millenium with his birthday shout-out to Hugh Hefner. 'Clash of the Titans,' Ricky Martin's Sexual Orientation And The Black Eyed Peas In Today's Twitter-Wood

Twitter-Wood had heaps of knowledge to impart today, and movie trivia collectors will want to take note of the "Clash of the Titans"/"Hot Fuzz" connection cited by Edgar Wright, as well as Emmy Rossum's real name. That's right, Emmy is short for something else, and I never would have had the spelling right in a million years were it not for her Twitter account.

In other conversations, Ricky Martin's sexual orientation predictably became a celebrity topic of choice after he announced on his website that he is "a fortunate homosexual man." The Sea World Killer Whale And 'Inglorious Basterds' Meets 'Jersey Shore' In Today's Twitter-Wood

Anyone who has ever made a trip to Sea World to see Shamu was undoubtedly shocked by news that one of the killer whales there attacked its trainer, resulting in her death. Some animal rights supporters think the whale shouldn't have be kept in captivity to begin with, and "Toxic Avenger" director Lloyd Kaufman appears to be one of them.

In much lighter news, Lee Unkrich got to share part of "Toy Story 3" with another big-time Hollywood guy. A 'Twilight'/'American Idol' Connection, Kevin Smith And Shaun White In Today's Twitter-Wood

18 February 2010 1:30 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

"Twilight" watchers now have their pitch for which contestant to support in the "American Idol" finals. Apparently Didi Benami and actress Rachelle LeFevre go way back. LeFevre had a lot of vocal support when Bryce Dallas Howard replaced her as Victoria for "Eclipse," so it may be interesting to see if her followers are also impressionable "Idol" voters.

Heated though it may be, "American Idol" competition has had to go head-to-head with Winter Olympics competition this week, and Shaun White and Lindsey Vonn were on everyone's tweets last night. Early Academy Awards Nomination Reactions In A Twitter-Wood Special Edition

Nothing stirs up emotions, name-dropping and unbridled snark in Hollywood quite like the Academy Awards nominations, and each of these behaviors was alive and well this morning as the official Oscar contenders for 2010 went public.

In the first few hours after the nominees were announced Twitter-Wood saw all of these reactions, and I've retweeted a collection below filled with Anna Kendrick's shock after seeing her Best Supporting Actress nomination for "Up in the Air," Lee Unkrich's wishes to the "Up" crew, Samm Levine's assessment of the eight nominations received by "Inglourious Basterds" and more.
