Very Enjoyable Rural Journey

After a long time watched a film with enchanting story. The rural areas are so neglected and some of the cultures are unheard. The urban population can never feel the pain experienced by rural backward communities. This film is very natural and thought provocative.

Simple Work of an Art

This movie takes you through a journey of rural Karnataka. It unearths the subtle cultures. The story and direction are truly remarkable. The coarse language provides justice to the story. I had heard about this movie showing its presence in Hollywood and film festivals. This truly is a work of an art. As this was based on true story, it was very impressive and filmed in a simple fashion. You will definitely be touched at the end. The movie took me back to 90s and it is not aligned with any trend. You will enjoy the journey of Siddhi and all her endeavors to avail a rich saree.

Classic Reality - in reel and real

Learnt that this movie has received 9th place at New York Global Liftoff film festival, wanted to know what the movie was, and no doubt the movie deserved it. The story is of a poor women who face hardship in realising her dream of buying a saree for her funeral/last rites. It is shot so realistically that one feels the story unraveling live. It has made even the Hollywood Director Larry Yust to wonder on it's realistic portrayal. The siddi character is played excellently. There are other women character too who face odds in their life and how they face them with tact is portrayed very nicely. Even these roles have been played excellently by the actors. Overall it's a rarity that movie so close to reality are made. This movie could well be a classic repertoire for movie makers. Worth watching it.

Very impressive true story

The director has chosen a very different subject. The film gets you involved in the story and takes you back to 80s or 90s. Siddhi's performance stands out in the movie. The movie is definitely an award hit. Her daughter's character is also key to the story. The background score is good and the village ambiance is authentic. It is a real flavor of rural India as the tagline says.

An innocent journey of an old widow

I was very skeptical about this movie but as I started watching it, I didn't realize the movie was over. The journey of Siddhi struggling to get rich saree makes a deep impact on your mind. The story has a very emotional touch. I enjoyed every scene of the movie. The movie has been so simply shot that you forget all the technical aspects and cling to the story. Director Brahmanad Reddy has portrayed the character of the old aged Siddhi so very well. I also admired the character of Chandri - Siddhi's daughter. The dialogues are catchy and typical Mysore/Mandya rural language is very funny. This is a very different genre of movies.

Best Rural Cinema of Kannada

The story and direction are the protagonists of this film. The film doesn't seem to have any commercial elements yet it keeps you entertained. It is a beautiful and natural experience. The character of Siddhi will make you cry at the end of the film. Best performance by all the actors. I really loved the coarse language and dialogues of the film. It is a rural drama that any category of the audience would like. If you are tiered of mundane commercial movies, watch this film for a different experience.

I had never imagined the village stories to be so entertaining. The film is hilarious at times and also emotional especially when Siddhi is on the journey of earning money for the saree. It is very different and unlike other Kannada movies. This movie is full value for the money.

Lovely Depiction of Rural Life

One of the finest movies scripted to show the everyday village life. Simplistic characters have been truly brought to life. An emotional touch in the climax will truly make us ponder about meaning of life and it's eventuality.
