Ghost in Wonderland Pts 1 & 2

Ghostwriter is a reboot of a 1990s television show that was co produced by the BBC.

The new version is made for Apple+ in association with Sesame Workshop.

Ruben is a new kid in school and in the city. He has moved with his single mother as his grandfather is a new widower.

Grandfather owns an old fashioned bookstore and it seems to be haunted by a ghost.

Ruben and three other pre teen kids find themselves coming face to face with a giant rabbit who is late and words being formed that hint at something.

No one else can spot these words or see the white rabbit and later the mad hatter and an irate Queen of Hearts.

The kids have no idea who they are but they need to get these characters back into the book about Alice which is now blank.

The plus part of Ghostwriter is that it does not talk down to its audience. It tries to avoid the usual school stereotypes. That is the influence of Sesame Workshop.

The CGI white rabbit is very well done and it is voiced by Neil Patrick Harris.

However it is also pretty light and anemic. It might just be that this was the first story. Kids would find it diverting and it might ignite their interest in books.
