Should have been better
thefuturemoviecritic13 September 2023
After a young man's brother is murdered, he finds himself haunted by him and naturally seeks help, finding it in a mysterious psychiatrist whose treatment methods can only be explained as unorthodox. To say more might constitute a spoiler, but I will say that the presented concept is an interesting one. The script almost works and probably would have with another pass or two, but if unfortunately falls victim to amateur camerawork and performing. Our lead and our psychiatrist are decently enough performed but that's about it, with everybody else veering between decent and flat out awful. The camerawork feels like a student production and dampens the obviously stylistic nature they're going for. Low budget can be excused for some of these things but SURELY they could have cobbled together some resources to fix the flaws. The premise is so interesting that it deserves a good film behind it, but as is the only thing that's properly handled here is the ending, which is great but unfortunately doesn't feel earned. The filmmaking team behind this is probably one to look out for in the future, if only they manage to learn where to improve. More like a 3 or 4, but giving a generous 5 for a strong effort.

Too much background music for my liking
keirondarbyshire26 November 2022
Music in films can do many things.

When done effectively.

It can send shivers down your spine, it can add to a comedy effect. Or in this case, be really annoying.

I mean Annoying like when you watch a made for TV movie & there's music more or less throughout the whole of it. And all the music in this is the sinister kind, even when there's nothing sinister occurring.

It reminds me of Paranormal Activity Two (or Three), where there's a rumbling sound whenever something spooky will or will not happen. It becomes a drag.

So alas, that sums up this entire film. I cared not for the acting of the story because all I could hear was music & it annoyed me.

I kind of watched about twenty minutes before aborting.

Therefore this review isn't based on having watched part of, or the whole film.

I did not see that ending coming!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
There are very few movies I am surprised by, but I did not see that coming....... I thought the film was dragging for a minute but then bam! If you like a good wtf at the end....you will like this one. I need 600 words so, I guess I will need a spoiler alert added. The doctor I could kind of see something was going to be off with him but not that off.....it goes from thriller to oh my friggin god horror in about 2.3 seconds.....then it takes you the entirety of the of the credits to go back in your head to see all of the things that add up to wat you just saw. Once of the best endings I have ever seen.
