Storyline

In 2002, the peaceful town of Truro, Massachusetts, with a population of about 2,000 people in the off-season, hadn't had a murder case for 30 years. The rape and murder of Crista Worthington, a prominent fashion writer and single mom who had settled there from Paris and New York had all the makings of a high-profile murder case which was expected to be solved quickly. They were shocked to find this a baffling case which took about 4 years of extensive investigation to solve and with a surprising suspect. Written by lemoviecritic@yahoo.com

Cape Fear

This documentary about the murder of Christa Worthington is incredibly disappointing, being not only practically all talk, but padded out to such a degree that it could have been shortened significantly without affecting the viewer's comprehension.

Miss Worthington was a fashion writer from a prominent family of a small Massachusetts town. She also led a distinctly unusual lifestyle, raising her daughter – sired by a local fisherman and father of six – alone.

Christa Worthington was apparently raped and then stabbed to death in January 2002. With no shortage of potential killers, the police hit a dead end until DNA evidence provided them with another and somewhat unlikely suspect. He told a cock and bull story at his trial, was convicted, and sentenced to life without parole. End of.

For many reasons, the case attracted a great deal of attention, but the bland presentation does little to arouse the curiosity of the whodunnit crowd here.
