"Ladies and gentlemen, the nominees for this years Darwin Awards are..."
Oh man, never in my lifetime would I imagine that someone would gather up all the stupid testosterone driven moments of good old boys, slap 'em together into an episode of an hour long TV show, and, get this, market it to the TV viewing audience.
I recently just witnessed the "Loonies in the Boonies 2" episode of this program, and I'm simply at a loss for words. I mean, wow. All the stupid stunts that you heard or witness your school age friends do growing up, is apparently alive and well in the bible belt and places rural in these here United States of 'Merica.
From half naked country hotties riding mechanical bulls, to swinging from a crane in a muddied pond, to shootin' your friends TV because he lost a bet on a football game. Pot belly, mid-western, gun toting, beer swillin', CAT dielsel baseball cap wearing, good old boys doing the most unsafe, stupid, idiotic, yet amazingly fun in a dumb kind of way, stunts, all captured on home video, and beamed right to your TV for you and your loved ones to enjoy. Kurosawa it ain't.
For all that, I have to admit, that I was riveted to seeing the antics of some of the people I briefly grew up with, only I aged and grew up. Some of these guys are still little boys at heart, thinking their bodies indestructible.
You know, just thinking about it, given all the other stuff to hit the air waves, a man figures that someone had to put a show like this together.
Do I recommend it? Yeah, sure, but only if you're bored out of your skull and need to see how the other half lives.
Seriously, I can't believe I just watched this thing.
Watch at your risk, and enjoy.
