Will Piranha 3Dd Go Straight to Video?

Will Piranha 3Dd Go Straight to Video?
John Gulager is no stranger to the direct-to-video circuit. After his 2006 directorial debut Feast opened in very limited release, his following two sequels Feast 2: Sloppy Seconds and Feast 3: The Happy Finish went straight to DVD. Now, that may happen once again with his upcoming sequel Piranha 3Dd.

Supposedly even crazier and gorier than the first remake helmed by Alexandre Aja, Piranha 3Dd is bypassing theater screens in the UK, and will instead premiere on Blu-ray and DVD in that country on March 13 of 2012.

Piranha 3Dd was supposed to open in November of this year, here in the states. But Dimension Films pulled it from their release slate with no new release date given. The fact that it is going to DVD in the UK doesn't bode well for its theatrical presence here in the Us. Which is a shame, as it was made for the big screen in 3D.

Hellraiser: Revelations' First Trailer is Too Easy a Target

The ninth film in the Hellraiser film series is set to move to DVD shelves October 18th and now the first trailer for this feature is available. Actor Doug Bradley has played Pinhead, the central antagonist, in the previous eight films, but he declined to participate in this latest film, titled Hellraiser: Revelations, after reading the script (Bradley). The short shoot time of two weeks also signals a possible rush to complete the film by Puzzlebox Films, which has no other titles attached to its name. Horror fans and Hellraiser fans can take a look at the clip here, which involves a late night at a bar, a bum, a box, and a bumbling line or two.

As well, Dimension Extreme will distribute this title. Other films released from this American film distributor include several sequels such as Feast II: Sloppy Seconds, Feast III: The Happy Finish, Pulse 2: Afterlife,

"Pirahna 3D" Sequel To Hit Theaters Next Summer

After the eye-popping, blood-soaked "Piranha 3D" was both a critical and box office hit this summer, Dimension wants to get back in the water. Sure to pack in even more gruesome kills and, according to its title, more nudity, "Pirahna 3 Dd" is on its way.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Dimension wants to have "Piranha 3 Dd" in theaters by late August 2011. John Gulager, of "Project Greenlight" fame and director of guilty pleasure creature-feature "Feast," is set to direct, while "Saw 3D" scribes Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan will write.

Melton and Dunstan got their start on "Feast" before writing four "Saw" sequels. Gulager directed two sequels to "Feast," "Feast II: Sloppy Seconds" and "Feast III: The Happy Finish."

The first "Piranha 3D" lifted its name and fish from the 1978 cult classic (and it's James Cameron-directed sequel), but with a brand new story. In the film, Elisabeth Shue played Sheriff Julie Forester,

Excl: Spike Scream Awards Carpet, Event & After Party Coverage

This writer hit Scream 2010 (held at the Greek Theatre in La) and its after party (at the Music Box in Hollywood) this past Saturday night, and while we’ll be bleeding out a number of the interviews we conducted over the week (the airing of the event takes place tonight, October 19 on Spike TV), we are first bringing you our chat with Saw 3D co-scribe Marcus Dunstan, who took some time on the carpet to chat up that film as well as his coming flick The Collection and more.

No lie: I dig Dunstan, he of the infectious laugh, twisted personality and black fuzzy jacket. It seems only yesterday when I was seated in a lawn chair next to him in the high-desert enclave of Agua Dolce at 3am, watching together as FX-man Gary Tunnicliffe thrust a prosthetic beast-baby’s junk into actress Diane Goldner’s mouth while director John Gulager shouted,

Next year October needs to begin in August.

Human Centipede: First Sequence

Directed by Tom Six

Human Centipede: First Sequence (review) was a sensation ever since its first mention. Stephen Colbert even talked about it at the 2010 Emmys Awards broadcast! The premise cannot be simpler. Two pretty American girls are on a road trip through Europe.

DVD, Blu-Ray Round Up, Mar. 10, 2009: ‘Scarlett Johansson Collection,’ ‘Brokeback Mountain,’ ‘Witch Mountain’

Chicago – The Round-Up, HollywoodChicago.com’s famous recurring column about lesser Blu-Ray and DVD titles that may have slipped through your fingers at the store recently, is in clean-up mode this week. With a DVD collection for a famous young actress, an old cartoon, a straight-to-video horror movie, and three movies with the word “Mountain” in the title, the only word that comes to mind to tie these titles together is “random”.

You know those bins of “impulse buy” items you’ll see in stores near the cash register? Stuff that you may not have put on your shopping list and that you may not even know you want until you see them? That’s what this week’s Round-Up column is like. Peek in the bin and take a look at “Jonny Quest,” “The Scarlett Johansson Collection,” “Dead in 3 Days,” “Brokeback Mountain,” “Escape to Witch Mountain,” and “Return to

Goremeisters old and new on Fangoria Radio tonight!

Red is our favorite color here at Fangoria Radio, and tonight’s show (airing on Sirius Xm Stars satellite radio, Sirius channel 102/Xm channel 155, from 10 p.m.-1 a.m., with a repeat immediately after) is dedicated to those who have brought plenty of scarlet to the screen. Hosts Debbie Rochon and Fango editor Tony Timpone (sitting in for Dee Snider) have a bloody good lineup of guests on tap:

John Gulager has wrapped up his creature-feature trilogy with the new-to-dvd Feast III: The Happy Finish (pictured); he’ll spill his guts about the splattery trio and where he’s going from here

• Four decades after ushering in a wet new strain of fright filmmaking with Blood Feast, Herschell Gordon Lewis is still keeping a (severed) hand in the business, and will let us know what he’s been up to

DVD releases for Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Wow, this week we have a veritable cornucopia of genre film dropping. First off is the [Rec] remake Quarantine which I personally enjoyed more than the original. I mean, that camera bashing the head in scene? Awesome! Then we have the (hopefully not) last in the Feast trifecta, Feast 3: The Happy Finish which is hands down a great series, see it. Next we have the long awaited Midnight Meat Train (review here) adapted from Clive Barker's story of the same name, and while this may have had a sordid history in getting a release, it's still worth watching. Then we have the surprisingly good (but badly titled) Alien Raiders which we all enjoyed (review here). Then we have Screamers 2: The Hunting which I know agentorange is looking forward too. Last but not least is the f***ed up genre favorite Ex Drummer out of Belgium which you should really check out.

Spin-ematical: New on DVD for 2/17

Choke

Even with the cult-led power of Fight Club, it took a long time for another Chuck Palahniuk adaptation to make it to the big screen. Finally, we were served Clark Gregg's Choke, a film that certainly relished its source material, but didn't inspire the rabid love of its predecessor. Still, it's a fun look into the life of a sex addict who fake-chokes in restaurants for money. Rent it.

Feast 3: The Happy Finish Movie Review

Feast was one of the greatest new horror movies made in awhile. It was shocking, it had twists, it was gorey and it was just an all around awesome time. Feast 2 caught me out of left field and was one of the biggest dissapointments for me ever. I wanted more of Feast and instead we got a b-movie cheesfest. Feast 3 continues this trend of cheese and it can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. Picking up moments after the end of Feast II: Sloppy Seconds, the survivors are saved by the mysterious prophet, Short Bus Gus, who seemingly has the ability to control the beasts. He l...
