Anachronisms 

When asked why Mathayus doesn't want to be a king, he replies that it's 'not my cup of tea'. Tea spread to the western world through traders in the 17th century A.D. An Akkadian from the 3rd century B.C. would not use such an expression as he would never have even heard of 'tea'.

As Mathayus is asking for his ticket to Egypt, his cloak moves and a modern Celtic design tattoo is visible on his upper left arm/shoulder.

Continuity 

Narration at the start of the original The Scorpion King takes states the story takes place 'before the time of the pyramids' yet in this prequel Layla talks about going to see the pyramids in Egypt.

In the boat to Egypt scene, Layla says "...everyone should see the Pyramids..." In the narration of the original Scorpion King film, the time line is set "...before the Pyramids..."

Factual errors 

After Mathayus kills the Minataur who was distracted by Ari's flute playing, Ari quotes "music has charms that soothe the savage beast". The quote is actually "Music hath charms that soothe the savage breast".

When the group is standing atop a pillar of stone in the desert, the pillar casts a shadow on the sand yet there are no corresponding shadows of those standing on it.

Revealing mistakes 

During one of the last scenes involving Randy Couture's, Sargon, you can see him breathing yet he is supposed to be dead already.

When practicing archery for the young boys wanting to be warriors, all the bows are strung up to the wrong side. The string are close to leave the end of the bow limb because of this.
