Extremely simple and extremely sweet
planktonrules17 November 2008
This is a very simple short cartoon but it manages to really deliver thanks to a very sentimental but satisfying script. Without using any words at all and mostly simple black and white hand-drawn cartoons, the story conveys a sweet tale about a girl and her mother. The film begins with what appears to be a teenage girl who reminisces about her childhood--as you magically see the girl once again become little. You see this little girl cavorting about under the watchful care of her mother. Through scary times and through the sweet ones, you see the two interact in a manner that melts your heart. It's obvious based on the cartoon and the finale that these are remembrances of a mother long since deceased and the overall effort is bittersweet but satisfying. An exceptional film thanks to a nice script, very effective and cute drawings and music that really complements the action.
