The film was almost entirely shot with natural light. Cinematographer Fili Olsefski bounced the sunbeams into the hospital rooms with the use of mirrors.
Shot on location in a working hospital, no clapperboard, no make-up, no lights were used.
With just a skeleton crew there was minimum number of people in the room when the camera was rolling.
This whole set-up served the vision of greek neorealism.
