Life and death of a patriot scoundrel.

Spoilers below !!!!

George Sanders could have been this surprising character. A safe cracker, explosive expert who stole diamonds at the beginning of WW2 and who further realizes that he as a lethal disease, and he has no much time to live. So, he decides to work for the ministry of war, in London. He becomes a sort of chief rescue team in order to help people victims of the blitz, in shelters, under destroyed buildings, after major airplane bomber raids. He takes care of unexploded bombs, for instance...

I won't tell you any further. But you can guess the following.

Directed by the great Lewis Allen, who gave us famous film noirs, such DESERT FURY, APPOINTMENT WITH DANGER, SUDDENLY and so on.
