Heartbeats in a Tin Box
Prismark109 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Christine Box (Judith Stott) is a dedicated schoolteacher in a rough inner city comprehensive school.

She is disturbed by a letter she received from America. At the class she teaches, Christine punishes young Gina McCutcheon (Susan George) for being naughty.

The headmaster had to pull the ruler from her as she hit Gina with it. Christine Box is charged with assault.

Alan Prescott (Ray McAnally) a teacher who has a shine with the unmarried Christine calls on Dr Jimmy Davis an old friend of his.

Dr Corder takes an interest in her background. What is causing Christine Box to lash out.

It is no surprise that Christine was pregnant as young woman, forced into an abortion by her needy mother. She thought that she was abandoned by her boyfriend but her mother drove him away.

An episode with not many surprises, although given how she treated young Gina, she would had no cause to complain for being sacked.

Look out for a young Susan George.
